I found one - an unknown artefact. I picked up a signal when I jumped into the system and when I came out of supercruise, there it was. This weird, pulsating, glowing thing just drifting and wailing. That sound... I wouldn’t like to hear it back in Shinrarta, but all the way out here, it could have melted the flesh off my bones.
People have done a lot of research on these things. Apparently, the wailing sound transmits an image of whatever ship is targeting it. If you scoop one, it eventually rots through your cargo hatch. All of them are pointing in one direction: Merope.
I shot it and left. What else could I do?
