From the Ganbare☆Wrestling Archive: Cherry Steps Up
On April 6, 2014 Ganbare held their “Raising An Army Chapter 2” show, which, sadly, I have no footage of. DDT Universe’s collection is woefully inadequate when it comes to the 2014 shows, and for whatever reason they did not produce a DVD for this year. And good luck finding old Ganbare matches online.
To briefly summarize the key matches: Surprisingly, long-standing Ganbare enemy Osamu Namiguhi did show up to help his former foes in a 6-man elimination tag. (I guess posting their phone number on YouTube paid off.) Ganbare’s team won this after Ohka pinned Seiya Morohashi, and afterward it was decided that he would face Shuji Ishikawa at the following month’s show to settle the feud once and for all.
Survival Tobita did not fare so well, losing to Pandita-killer Dr. Kiriko. Tobita told everyone that he would now become a doctor himself in order to figure out how to beat Tobita. As you do.
However, at Union’s next press conference - an event that no one appeared to want to be at - Ganbare got a surprising challenge when Cherry offered to fight Ken. She wanted people to know that Union consisted of more than just Shuji and Naomi. Ken was not tremendously enthusiastic about this, but he agreed, and it was booked for the Golden Union in Yokohama show, along with Shuji vs Imanari. Which, if this were MMA, is a fight that I assure you, would never, ever be sanctioned.
From the Ganbare☆Wrestling Archive: Ganbare Sends Union Pro a Warning…Through Food
In January 2014, Union Pro’s Isami Kodaka and Naomi Susan received a cryptic message in the form of a bag containing various food and a drawing. Kodaka responded by proceeding to eat the raw eggs, until a friend showed them that if you put the items in a row, they spelled out a message. A message telling them that former Union wrestler Ken Ohka planned to come after them with his Ganbare Wrestling group. No one took this the least bit seriously, and Susan ripped up the note, assuming this would be the last they would hear of that.
Needless to say, it would not be the last they would hear of that.
From the Ganbare☆Wrestling Archive: Roses Are Red...
The final chapter of the Ganbare vs Union feud was written at Golden Union 2014, where Shuji Ishikawa defeated Ken Okha in a Bed of 1000 Roses Death Match. (It’s a regular death match, but with roses.) This one is definitely worth watching, so I’m glad it’s one of the very few matches from this feud available on Universe.
After an absolutely wild match, Shuji said he hoped Ohka was now over his issues with his company. So, I suppose Union won this feud…but, at the end of the day, Ganbare’s still around and Union isn’t, so it’s debatable who really won in the end.
