Hello my beautiful friends! Finallyyyy... I have finished all of my midterms and am on Spring Break. The overarching theme of this week has been turbulence, uncertainty and fear. The rapidly spreading, mysterious Coronavirus has penetrated the concrete, seemingly impenetrable walls of New York City. When the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advised people to be prepared for disruptions to daily life as a result if the virus, we could never have imagined the sheerpanic and hysteria that would be invoked amongst communities and populations. It was this week that most universities and dental schools in New York, (including NYU Langone, NYU law school and the main NYU campus) have been shut down as a result of the spread of Coronavirus. It was made clear by the governor of New York to avoid all densely populated places, and urged that public transportation should be avoided. NYU College of Dentistry, however, proved itself a nonstop shot, and the dental students—dedicated troopers! As you can imagine, the NYU dental students were concerned for their safety (as well as their families, faculty, and patients) and expressed their distress to NYU’s administration, to no avail. So we banged out the last of our finals and now we are free to lock ourselves up in our homes and avoid any and all contagious environments! When we come back from spring break, all of our lectures will be recorded. It’s bittersweet. Today as I left our school, I took a good look at it and thought how much I would miss it. I hope all of this blows over quickly... what makes the situation so turbulent is the amount of rumors regarding the virus. So many of us are unfortunately misinformed, and the media is perpetrating a state of hysteria amongst the people. Take a look at some of the things I’ve written on this whiteboard, these are facts taken from the CDC regarding the Coronavirus. Be aware, be informed and I pray that you be healthy. Most importantly, don’t panic and stay rational! what are your thoughts on this coronavirus? . . . . thank you so much to uniform advantage for sending me these gorgeous, buttery soft scrubs! 💙🙏🏼 #uniformadvantage #adayinscrubs https://www.instagram.com/p/B9p148JHDjD/?igshid=j5ubn1j4kgab
