Study Update IV!
I DID IT!!!! I WAS ACCEPTED INTO UNI LEIPZIG! Oh man I canât tell you all how super exciting that is. I didnât quite believe this would actually happen, itâs been such a tumultuous year. Not knowing if I could actually stay in Germany, not knowing if Iâd pass the entrance exam for Studienkolleg, not knowing if Iâd make it through Studienkolleg, not knowing if my Studienkolleg course would be accepted for my chosen degree, not knowing if I met the language prerequisites, not knowing if Iâd gotten my application in on time, not knowing if Iâd filled it out correctly, not knowing if my Endnote was high enough for the minimum requirement nor indeed if Iâd be accepted into uni. There were so many times I honestly thought âWell, this is it. Had a good run up until now and itâs been a good learning experience but I suppose everything comes to an endâ. But itâs only about to begin!!! My friend Mariah (from the States) went through the same Studienkolleg course as me and asked me the other day if itâs hit me yet that Iâm about to start my degree in Germany. Itâs so surreal when I think about it, I actually canât. I donât know if it will ever hit me. I can process that Iâve so far achieved my goal but my brain pulls a 404 Error when I try thinking about studying in Germany, in German. Fortunately itâs not an entry requirement.
Special shoutout to everyone who never doubted Iâd be able to make it this far. I really appreciate your support and terrifying, unrestrained optimism.

Service fßr Patienten: Sachsens Kliniken um Wohlfßhlatmosphäre bemßht
Ins Krankenhaus geht niemand gern.

Study update II
Here is Part I if you missed it
The saga continues! Quick refresher: Emailed Frau Richter at the Japanologie Institute. Fr Richter said I had to talk to Fr BĂśhme. Visited Fr BĂśhme who said I needed to talk to Fr Richter.Â
Fr Richter has two contact hours per week. Two. It took a month before I was finally able to see her and the first thing she did was refer me back to Fr BĂśhme again.Â
I was not having a bar of it. Holding back tears of extreme frustration I had to explain how talking to Fr BĂśhme again was not going to happen and that I needed an answer.
So I have good and bad news!
Bad news is: Apparently everything is controlled by an unnamed deity and that's why nobody takes responsibility for anything.
Also bad is that my two years of Japanese at school can't count because that's the language I'd be learning in my degree. I asked why I needed the third language and she said to something vague about globalisation and the need to prove I can learn another language. The irony of that conversation taking place in German just blows my mind.Â
Good news is she'll discuss it with her colleagues and I may just have to learn my third language by the end of my degree. Also good news is that I may have the option of doing a year long exchange to Japan. Yeah baby, double semester exchange!
Which would actually fit in well with my dreams of being a tea master.
