#1 Let’s talk about...Fakear!
After the mid-2000 craze of the French Ed Banger-family things became quiet for a few years in France. The French touch seemed to be touching somewhere else. But things are looking better for the French electronic scene and electronic music in general. A magic trio have arisen from the ashes of their French ancestors. Dream koala, Superpoze and Fakear are the new soldiers of electronic music and they are finding their way above the underground and beyond. Fakear, being the leader, has spoken to the people with a musical mixture that links Bonobo, Jamie XX and even Daft Punk.
Fakear, also named Theo Le Vigouroux, is the fresh wind electronic music needed for many years. Not only is his music very refreshing, in his productions he uses vocals clearly influenced by world music, he even bothers to play his music live. Loaded with his ‘Maschine’ he fires samples to the crowd. Sometimes backed by a live band, sometimes just by his computer. Giving his live shows an extra pleasure to look at and listen to.
You can watch his Boiler Room set here.
Around the world he supported the greatest artists in their genre. Going from England to Japan and America. Supporting acts like Odesza and Bonobo. Drawing attention from Dj Snake to M.I.A. and Annie Mac. Born in Caen, Normandie, he was raised by musical parents on music by Ravel, Ismael Lo and Cheb Mami. Growing up he learned to play electric guitar and he became influenced by fellow frenchmen Daft Punk. It was when he started in his first ska-punk band he first met Gabriel Legeleux who’d later became fellow new ‘french-waver’ Superpoze.

By 2013 he created a buzz in his hometown and it became time to release his first EP. He went to Paris where he signed with the independent label Nowadays records, who supported him through the years. And why wouldn’t they? Fakear became their biggest export product to date. His single “La Lune Rousse” gained millions of listeners across Spotify, Soundcloud and even got played on French radio. All this helped him to debut on an international level. In 2015 he decided to take a break from the Parisian metropolis, and moved to the mountains. ‘I needed it, to seize a new primary “something”, something wild and authentic’. It was in this new setting that Fakear crafted his debut album Animal which was signed to Counter records, a part of the great Ninja tune imprint.
