I don’t know if this is what you’re after but I just replayed the Head of State mission in Fallout 3 and I swear, the amount of hope those funky little ex-slaves have made me so emotional I almost cried and I need to tell someone about it.
Like, I just really wish that had let them set up a functional settlement that you could visit and like check on them and see how they’re thriving not just the little bit in the credits you know? 🥺
I completely understand, anon! Obviously we don’t really have canon detailing what happened to them following their liberation of the Lincoln Memorial and restoration of the statue, but I like to think that they eventually struck up a friendly/working relationship with the ghoul city of Underworld. There’s recurring dialogue in the Fallout series about how people like to enslave ghouls because they have lengthened lifespans, and some even believe that ghouls don’t need to eat (Bethesda contradicts itself with that one, because they say in multiple places that they DO in fact need food, but then they give us Billy Peabody, the miraculous kid in the fridge). Given the proximity of the two settlements with populations prone to slaver attacks, I think the two groups would have set aside their differences and teamed up to repel anyone attempting a kidnapping. There are other mutual benefits, like the fact that having non-mutants around Underworld would deter the Brotherhood of Steel from firing on the ghouls, and the ghouls’ expertise in dealing with super mutants would come in super handy for those living in the Lincoln Memorial. Just a random headcanon of mine :)
