My absolute favorite part of this video is you can literally see the moment she decides she's going to get into mischief!
Look at how she moves, slowly and carefully toward the gap at the end of the pillow. Before this she'd been wanting to dangle down in that gap and have a look around- however that's dangerous as she could fall behind the bed and that wouldn't be the easiest place to retrieve her from. After first blocking her with my arm, and gently scolding her when she neared the edge after that she'd quickly turn around and come back to me.
The time in the video above is different. Her curiosity overpowered her and she decided she'd go for it. Once she made that choice, all her focus goes on that gap and she goes a bit faster. Her body language indicates excitement about the fun thing she is going to do.
They have a lot of quirks they share with cats, and keeping a hognose from exploring something they are curious about is like trying to keep a cat off a bed. A moment later they'll be back where they were. The easiest way to stop this, especially when they want to go off the edge of a fall hazard, is to "play airplane" where they can safely see what they were curious about, sate that curiosity, and then immediately give them something else to play with. So long as they got to see whatever they wanted to investigate I haven't had the diversion after fail.
It's also good to let them see this way, that way you show them you are there to help them achieve their goals- not restrain them or prevent them from their achievements. You are able to get them to the areas they want to see, so they don't need to be sneaky about it. (I did, in fact, let her look around and she really enjoyed herself. Hognoses absolutely love dangling down and slowly rotating around to look at everything. She enjoyed the opportunity very much. Sometimes I give her tours of the house, and she likes that too.)
