i’ve only seen the us version of underdogs/metegol but my crackpot toxic fanfic idea is that in the future, jake and laura have a restraining order against ace because he kept showing up drunk and crying on their front lawn when matty was a baby. so the order lasts for five years and when it expires he doesn’t show up again so they both are like cool, he’s out of our life. but they do not tell any of this to matty and, since he’s a huge soccer/football fan, ace becomes his favorite player. and he begs jake and laura to take him to a game at ace’s stadium, and they’re both reluctant, but figure that it’s a huge stadium and they’re not going to bump into him. except when they’re at the gate, the ticket taker tells them that they’ve been upgraded to ace’s private box. and suddenly they’re face to face with ace again, who has retired from playing and now manages a team. and matty is thrilled and wants to know why his parents never told him that they knew ace. and ace is actually super great with matty, goes full i’m not the stepdad i’m the dad who stepped up and even kicks around the ball a little with him. and he invites jake and laura for dinner at his house. and then the rest of the fic is ace single-mindedly trying to become jake and laura’s third and matty’s stepdad while jake and laura and the team are like what the fuck is wrong with him
