Underclassical!

To set the scene: underclassical is a mostly peaceful au, where monsters and humans live in harmony. They are set in a more pre-industrial age where type arts had begun evolving with newfound vigor. Painters, sculptors, textile artists and many others are taking the world by storm, and their rich patrons are more than happy to supply them. The countries in this au were set on a path similar to the European renaissance in the current world’s past

After the crash, the classicals (what the other AUs call them) discovered a ton of similarities between them and the farm AUs. They had early versions of current day farm monster crops, similar family names as well as reported history, and specifically with farmswap- the exact same royal family line, or at least the names of all their royals match the farmswaps royals up until a certain point in farmswaps history. So it is believed that the classicals are another offshoot au of the farm monsters.

Donatello/Donnie Wingdings (underclassical sans)

Donnie is a medium sized skeleton monster standing at 5’5 feet tall. He has French grey magic, freckled bones and ecto, and a chip in one of his front teeth making them look gapped. He is aged 91

Donnie is a reclusive private monster. He gets anxious in social settings and prefers the quiet of his workshop. He’s not necessarily shy, although he comes across as that for being so soft spoken, he is just simply at peace with solitude unlike most other monsters. He is a kind and grateful monster, having been adopted into a very successful family, and works hard to show it. He can be a bit overly indulgent to those he loves and will forget to care for himself if left to his own devices.

Donatello is a very very very talented artist. He came from humble beginnings, the child of a destitute mage working for a theatre production. Donnie was recognized for his talent with color and lighting when young, and was offered to be brought up with the Wingdings to cultivate that talent. He received a lovely education in the arts and is now a prized portrait painter. Even after the crash he still remains one of the country’s favorites and is even the royals personal painter, having done all of their official portraits.

Donnie has no idea what his special ability is as no strange talent has ever seemingly popped up. His ability though is that he is completely immune to the side effects of dangerous chemicals, poisons and elements. He’s very sane for an artist who works with lead, cyanide and other toxic compounds used in old pigments. His magic attack is a cricket bat with a pretty floral design etched into it.

Things he loves: the color flesh, prettily colored bottles, canvas, embroidered fabric, oil paints, mural painting, still lifes with cheese and biscuits in them, cheese and biscuits (the little cookies, not the American ones), interestingly shaped lamps, stage sets, opera, wisteria flowers, vintage jewelry, anything with a shiny reflective surface really

Medici Wingdings (underclassical papyrus)

Medici is a tall half breed skeleton monster, 6’7 feet with a pretty Celeste blue magic. She has a light tinkling feminine voice and is considered extremely attractive in her au. She is aged 35.

Medici, named after her mother’s maiden name, is the rainbow child of her elderly parents who had previously thought they would never conceive. She was extremely coddled and spoiled from a young age, making her rather unaware of the horrors of the real world. However despite the princess treatment, she came out a very sweet and affectionate monster (believed to be due to the influence of her much more down to earth adoptive brother). She is a high energy monster and is just full of enthusiasm for life. She has absolutely no sense of danger though and definitely needs to be watched when out and about lol.

Medici previously was a young socialite still being educated in the ways of a soon to be bride in her old au before the crash happened. Her fiancé, a human, didn’t cross over with the monsters. She’s not torn up about it, she never met the guy in person anyways. Nowadays she’s carrying on the family name as a patron of the arts, hosting art hops, and helping run the family galleries as well as ebott’s natural history museum. She also does a bit of modeling for fun. She’s a busy gal

Medici’s special ability is a delightful party trick she calls jesters tea. When she pours a drink, she can also choose to make the water shoot back into the vessel it came from. She uses it to prank guests all the time. Her magic weapon is a small white folding fan, heavily adorned with peonies, pearls and feathers.

Things she loves: art of every era and form! She is just as enthusiastic about modern art as she is about the renaissance, impressionist, Neolithic- any era any place. She also loves floral fabrics, the color rose pink, pearls, big flashy feathers, skirts and dresses, lace, rose hip tea, pink peonies, jam filled donuts, opera and new wave rock, comedy play, pranks, card games.

Side characters:

Julius the 3rd: underclassical toriel, or queen Julie as she’s been affectionately nicknamed, the royal of the classical monsters. She is a vibrant and social monster with a flair for the dramatics lol. She is invested in the arts sure, but her real passion is history and making sure it’s taught right. She handles a lot of what history in ebott is taught, and also works with legitimizing ebotts oral histories from the less literate AUs. She determines what gets written down and becomes “canon”.

Bonaparte: underclassical asgore, Queen Julie’s son. Bonaparte is the second royal of the classicals and is a real shrewd and charismatic monster. He got the best qualities of both of his parents to their delight. He oversees the tourism of ebott, what areas tourists are guided to, how the country is presented, qualifications needed for tourists to be allowed inside, and potential activities to increase revenue. He’s one of the most popular rulers among the humans

Venus: a beautiful tall goat monster, the soulmate and wife of queen Julie. She is a shrewd business monster and prefers not being involved in politics as to focus on her businesses instead. She is the goldenfoots biggest competitor in the grocery market with her more high end grocery store chain called SilkRoad.

Loretta Wingdings: formerly Loretta Medici, she is a human woman from underclassical and the soulmate and wife of Niccolo Wingdings. She is a huge social butterfly and has greatly enjoyed the wealth her soulmate came with. The sudden loss of it all after the crash was very jarring to her, and she’s become much more cautious and fugal these days despite the family quickly rebuilding itself.

Whirl: hot

Wind: he doesn’t give a sh*t. So does he, big whoop.

Donnie: he tries his best not to judge, but if it’s a really high number he will judge. He’ll judge hard

Whirl: he could have more than one partner, but he absolutely can’t share. He’s a jealous bb. His preferred dynamic is both partners sharing him. Every one dating each other would be trickier but possible if they communicate well

Wind: he leans very heavily on the aromantic side. Like he could date someone, but to him it’s more of a fwb roommates situation. The best relationship dynamic for him is for his partner to have a boy/girlfriend on the side

Donatello: polyamory was looked down on in his au and practically unheard of until after the crash. With the right people, he’s willing to try but he’d be very nervous about it in the beginning. He’s not the jealous type at all.

Whirl: LV: 3 HP: 1051 AT: 40 DF: 15 STATUS: oh yes!!! I was just waiting for a reason to rip you to shreds-

Wind: LV: 4 HP: 1033 AT: 43 DF: 13 STATUS: retaliating on the basis of an unwanted soul check is not provable in a court of law, so I suppose I’ll have to hide your body.

Donatello: LV: 0 HP: 866 AT: 14 DF: 15 STATUS: *he is so immersed in his artwork that he doesn’t even notice the check passing over his soul*

Whirl: his is a wicked looking wolf eels skull. It’s massive, the size of whirl himself and has a very loud rattling build up noise before it blasts.

Wind: his is a more clean looking moray eels skull. And it always produces a low humming noise

Donnie: his resembles the skull of an owls. The slightly downturned beak means it always places itself above its enemy to hit them properly.

Whirl: very very good. He can dunk enough to kill the average person and be fine.

Wind: pretty damn decent. He isn’t supernatural like whirl is, but he’s still definitely higher up on the tolerance scale

Donatello: about average. He isn’t a fan of being drunk so he rarely goes past one glass of wine when drinking.

Whirl: he doesn’t get sick (lies). Or at least he never could afford to get sick in his old au. He and wind weren’t exactly high up on the food chain in Underdraught so being too sick to forage outside the city meant starving. They weren’t ones lucky enough to afford the little scraps grown inside of the city walls. If whirl ever gets sick, he stamps the feeling down and powers through.

Wind: for all his faults, whirl did do his best to care for and provide for his little bro, so wind actually did get sick days. But he felt guilty knowing his brother was out in the storms without anyone watching his back. When wind gets sick, all of those past nerves come rushing back making him snappy and restless

Donnie: he’s only ever been sick once in his life, and apparently it was really bad. He doesn’t remember it though. He was just a kid at the time. If he got sick now, he probably wouldn’t realize anything is wrong if it was just mild.
