okay so hereās a super hot take that will probably get me a lot of shit but fuck i donāt care:
white pagans who are interested in veiling should ask themselves whyĀ theyāre interested in it.
iām not saying white pagans shouldnātĀ veil, just that we know that sometimes white people have a tendency to want to do this super cool thing that black and brown people do and i just think some of the emphasis on it from white pagans may very well come from a place of wanting to engage in this really cool thing that muslims do.Ā
and iām not saying thatās allĀ white pagans who want to veil or even mostĀ white pagans that want to veil, but i would take a shot in the dark that it doesĀ happen and white pagans have a responsibility to question whether they want to veil because it feels more respectful of the gods or if they want to veil because they want to be a part of the club and engage with something that is very important to many black and brown people because it looks fun.
like, in other words, white pagans need to sit and think and reallyĀ think... if the historical tradition of veiling in their religions really speaksĀ to them or if itās an excuse to do engage with a practice theyāve seen black and brown people do that theyāve really enjoyed.Ā
