First Meetings // C.H
Here is a little Uncle!Calum blurb for an anon that wanted one today! I hope this is what you wanted lovely. Calum takes his partner to meet Harper for the first time.
Content — Calum x gender neutral reader
“Are you sure the lion is gonna win her over?”
Calum chuckles as he spots you twiddling the stuffed lion in your grasp, hoping it holds all the power to make today a successful one. After being together for a few months, Calum (and Michael) have decided that it’s time to introduce you to the second light in his life — Michael’s daughter, Harper.
“She loves animals more than anything, trust me.” Calum replies, thinking about her extensive collection of stuffed and toy animals in her bedroom. “She’ll probably show you them all when we go see her.”
“I hope she likes me,” You think out loud, knowing the sweet two year old looks up to her uncle like no one else. If she didn’t like you, you knew it would upset him, and her too — you didn’t want to take Calum away from her. One hand moves from the steering wheel to rest on your thigh, thumb rubbing soothing circles to reassure you. “What if she doesn’t?”

Luke drove up to the school, glancing around to make sure he was at the right place. There were a lot of minivans and serious-looking adults standing around or sitting in their cars. This had to be it.
Luke got out of his car, double-checking that Kol’s car seat was in the back seat.
He placed his sunglasses on, hoping that would help him avoid eye contact with any of these soccer moms. Michael had warned on profusely on the phone to not hold any type of conversation with them unless he was willing to awkwardly stand there for a long time, listening to them gush over how good looking he was.
Luke didn’t have that kind of time.
He stepped into the front office, nodding in greeting to a handful of parents waiting inside. He walked over to the front desk, only to find the secretary on the phone. He waited for a moment as she finished her call.
“Can I help you?” she asked in a bored tone. Then she looked up and her eyes grew wide. She smiled brightly and leaned forward slightly. “Hello, how are you today?”
“Good. Uh, I’m picking up my nephew, Kolton Clifford. How do I…?” he gestured around himself. “Do I just go get him from class?”
“Oh, no, no, no.” the secretary placed a clipboard in front of him. “You’ll need to sign this and let me see your ID.” Luke handed over his ID as he grabbed a pen. The secretary got up, going to the copy machine to print a copy of his ID. She took out a file from the cabinet behind her and placed the piece of paper in a specific file. She double checked from a different piece of paper and put the file back.
“You’re on his emergency contact.” She said as she sat back down. “Let me just call his teacher and he’ll be coming out shortly.”
Luke stood off to the side as more parents came to sign their kids out. They made it look so easy, like picking up a kid from elementary school was always like this. Luke didn’t remember much from his time in elementary, but he remembered being able to run free and not being signed out like he was in prison.
“Hi, Uncle Luke.” Kol grinned, walking over to him. “Where’s Dad?”
“Working on a case.” Luke placed a hand on Kol’s shoulder as they walked out of the office. “Is your school always this complicated?”
Luke's help is needed for homework after Rigby is put back in 2nd grade. And her attention span hasn't gotten any better. 😂
He’d tutored her twice and so far Rigby had learned nothing. It wasn’t her fault that she couldn’t keep her attention on the task at hand, Luke’s voice got all monotone when he was focused and it was too easy to zone out. Plus, Rigby still hated math. No amount of time with Uncle Luke was gonna change that. Drastic times called for drastic measures. Luke needed something to redirect her attention and redirect it fast. The second grade had been a pain the first time and there was no chance of it being a walk in the park the second time. So at the next tutoring session, Luke came prepared. He had a water bottle full of a few coins set right next to Rigby’s practice math book. Rigby looked at it with uncertainty. “What’s that for?” “Nothing, let’s get started.” Luke opened to the last page they had been working on, going straight into the tutoring. Rigby did well for the first five minutes as they worked through review problems, but as soon as Luke began to explain the new thing, he could already notice her beginning to lose concentration. So, without looking up from the book, he reached over and grabbed the water bottle. And shook it in Rigby’s face, causing her to snap back to reality and her gaze to focus back on him. Luke gave her a pointed look. “Come on, Rig, you need to focus.” “That scared me!” she whined, pouting just slightly. “Focus and I won’t do that again.” Rigby let out an annoyed huff but nodded, turning back to the book. “Fine.” Luke smirked, going back to his explanation. This was going to work out.
