UNBURIER-OVER THE WORLDS THEY CREATE
UNBURIER-AMORPHOUS ENTRAPMENT
Cleaned out your closet lately?
Another message.
It made Lena suspicious, yet she did not feel there was anything she could do about it. Perhaps they were pranks of some sort. In any case, she would not let them bother her.
Nor was she going to let herself think about her closet or anything in it for quite some time.

*VOICEMAIL* Poor Daxton, trying to fix things. Obviously it's not working--although considering that nothing has ever really worked out for you, it's not much a surprise! Turning to your precious bird is only going to make things worse--the next person you tell, someone is gonna get hurt...oh, wait. Would that be considered a threat?
I hear they're opening up a new establishment in the next town over. Perhaps it'll be a good place to start getting more inspiration for your next novel.
Picking up the phone, Lena found it odd that there was no caller ID. At first, she assumed it was a cold caller, but the message did not sound automated. The voice did not belong to her agent, and the longer she listened, the more easily she could tell that it was not a polite call from her publisher, either.
The message could, perhaps, be seen as a kind tip. But even with the vagueness of it, the lack of identity of the person on the other line, and her occasional miscomprehension of words, she knew that was not the case.
Lena realized the call had long ended and clicked to lock her phone and set it down. Taking a deep breath, she ran a hand through her hair and shook her head. It was fine. Just some silly person. This wouldn’t be the first time someone tried to make things up in order to bribe her to write things about them.
This was just the only time any of them had made her do anything other than shake her head.
Reminding herself to be calm, she left her phone on the table and went upstairs to take a bath, muttering a few uneasy words in French under her breath as she went.
A piece of advice: You should really clear your search history.
“What?!”Â
For a moment, Blaise didn’t even comprehend the short message, but when she did, a number of colorful obscenities leapt to her lips.Â
"Who is this? How did you get my number? Are you threatening me? What are you—”Â
The dial tone sounded in her ear and Blaise lowered the phone, glaring at the incriminating device. For a second, she considered throwing it at the wall, but she suddenly realized she had greater problems to take care of.Â
Heart drumming a little faster than usual, the blonde ran into her bedroom, letting out a short breath of relief when she spotted her laptop still laying on her bed, seemingly untouched. She squinted at it for a moment as if judging if it was safe to touch, and upon deciding it was, opened it up.Â
Looking surreptitiously over her shoulder, Blaise quickly moved her mouse to Clear Browser History. Click. No one knew, no one could know. She had been so careful, but it was better safe than sorry.Â
Shutting her laptop screen, Blaise tried her best to compose herself as her jittery nerves began to turn to anger. Who was the mysterious caller and who did they think they were, threatening her like that? It wasn’t hard to see the change in the teenager as her jaw squared and her eyes narrowed.
Someone was going to die tonight.
