Look, idk how I would have my characters interact with Max yet beyond brief conversation while waiting for coffee, BUT-
He has a very different voice to Eira and co, which is cool. Making sure your characters read different is always a worry, but you pull it off well!
And I have mentioned it before, but uuuugh I ship Max/Riley and I get sad when they are fighting, but also hey, cool, ships with problems instead of magical perfect relationship where nothing goes wrong. But I do also love cute ship moments so 🥰

Eira really wanted to get back to her studies as soon as possible ( also to move on from being massively stupid ) so in addition to working at Finnian’s teahouse, that went on from morning to afternoon, she started taking a few evening to late night shifts at a cafe open past midnight. That’s where she met Max. It was a pretty bad time, working herself to the bone pretty much. Then her father passed away and she moved back into her childhood home, that while was actually closer to Finnian’s tea house, would be pretty inconvenient traveling to the cafe and had to quit that job, which was better for her anyway.
She met Max before meeting Oliver and had a bit of a crush on him. But they only worked together a short time and only so many times so they didn’t have a chance to be anything. It’s probably what influenced her wanting to be in a relationship with Oliver.

Riley pretty much instantly smiled, exhaling through his nose contently as he did once Max smooched his cheek. “Okay, fine. If you insist.” He replied, his smile still obvious across his lips as he turned to face him.
