Only daughter of Carmilla De La Rosa and Lucien Van (now deceased) she is the heiress of the Rosa Medtronic companies, the largest creator and distributor of medical equipment in the United States and Van Pharmaceuticals, the largest distributor of medicines in the country and especially in Gotham City, being the current CEO of the latter

She appears to be a young woman despite being over three hundred years old, with a charming appearance and an elegant but delicate way of acting; Amaris is an expert in body language and very skilled at reading the emotions of the humans around her; although, due to the fact that she is still a young Umbratra, she still fails to perfectly imitate human emotions, therefore she can be interpreted as if she had a cold attitude and was emotionally distant

Both her family and she have the mission of increasing the Umbratra influence over the lives of humans, being she responsible for ensuring that Gotham City is under the influence of her species, this is the reason why since "young" her family arranged a marriage with the son of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

Although the death of these last two somewhat altered the plans for Amaris, things still continued as planned, marrying a 14-year-old Bruce thanks to the arranged marriage that the boy felt the need to respect because it was his parents' last will and everything was going to continue as planned until

This being the long-awaited second part (for those who love to have a lore to scrutinize) of this post, we will continue talking about this alien species

We previously discussed the planet of origin of the Umbratra species and how they were born (in short, they are a hybrid species that was born from the need of the other two dominant species of Tenebrae Prime to ensure their survival); now this is the continuation of the previous post

The Noctis Arcaiver may have been smart enough to find a solution to their birth problem, but not smart enough to discern that if they keep doing the same experiment, they will have the same result, which caused a massive amount of umbratras as they thought that maybe if they kept trying a Noctis Arcaiver would come out at any moment (which never happened,and that angered that species)

And even though this new species were sons and daughters of the Noctis Arcaiver, for not being of the same species, they were discarded and left to their fate both by their mothers who only wanted beings of their same species (because they are racist) and those of the same species as their fathers, the Abyssale Deinos despite the fact that they could be a little confused since the Umbratras could smell similar to them, they only recognized them as food, which left the poor hybrids out in the open having to learn to survive alone

But even with everything against them on such a hostile planet, the umbratras in their desire to survive, developed intelligence superior to that of their predecessors with each new generation of umbratras that were born, and learned to adapt through imitation of the other species of Tenebrae Prime

They fed on Sanguivium like their mothers and were as aggressive and wild as their fathers, this is how they managed to create a space for themselves on the planet (in addition to the fact that over time the other two dominant species became extinct because they could not reproduce and only Umbratras were born from the union between them) until finally becoming (after a few thousand years) the dominant species on the planet

These also have unique abilities of their hybrid species such as using their fangs not only to tear, but to suck the blood/liquids of other species and being able to transform into those ones they bit after having already fed on them (or just with a little blood and/or meat), remember, their greatest ability is imitation

Now you may be wondering, what does an Umbratra look like? Well, right here I will proceed to describe them both in their true form (the alien one) and their human form (the form they will use the most in the future when they arrive on Earth, which of course, I will explain in another post)

Its alien form appears to be an elegant looking creature with two large, bulbous, glass-like eyes with their glassy surface offering a clear view of its surroundings, plus three other smaller eyes on its forehead, all five of these eyes have black sclera and red pupils (Umbratras with more magical affinity have more than one pupil in their larger eyes)

Their skin is so dark that you can basically say that it is darkness itself (if darkness could count as a color), their neck is long and can be lengthened a little more at will, they have a smooth, featureless body and no visible genitals (in fact, they don't have genitals), they also have two pairs of large, arms with four fingers each, giving them a somewhat spider-like appearance, this species does not have bones but its body imitates the shape of a creature that does have them

As a paternal legacy, they have tentacles growing from their head, which can function as long, thin fingers, with a soft but firm texture these tentacles can move and stretch freely, as if they were made of a living and malleable material, the ends of the tentacles are pointed, with the ability to move or bend around objects in the environment, allowing the Umbratra to use them as extra arms to collect things or defend themselves

Their legs are long and slender, with thin calves that taper to thin ankles. Their legs appear strong and powerful, their feet are a bit odd, with sharp, pointed toes and a great deal of mobility, allowing the Umbratra to walk in a variety of ways (either running like vipeds or using all six of their limbs) and moving quickly across a variety of surfaces (yes, they can easily walk on ceilings or walls like spider people)

The Umbratras also have three tongues, all of them with retractable needles (because most of the time they are hidden inside the tongues) through which they inject poison to paralyze their prey, these are purple and their saliva has healing properties to a certain extent ( they can heal minor things like scratches or small wounds by licking)

As for their human appearance, that is more variable (they will imitate the features of the humans around them to camouflage themselves among them), of course, always taking into account the standard of beauty that is at the moment (until they, over time, managed to impose their standard of beauty on humans), after all, the Umbratras became highly vain creatures (this because they learned that humans are more willing to obey, trust, forgive, listen, follow, among other things, beings that they consider beautiful) below I leave you an example of how they look (there, for free, a drawing of the Umbratras in their two versions)

Continuing with the line of posts (part 1 and part 2 here) about this species until there is enough lore to start the Umbratra AU the yandere Batfamily x Umbratra reader (either batmom or batsis), in this part we will explain very briefly (because it is not that important actually) how the Umbratras came to Earth and other curiosities of this species and this time I will do this in questions and answers format, to add more variety

So how did the Umbratras end up on Earth?

Although they were already living on a planet that was about to self-destruct (remember, Tenebrae Prime was an extremely old planet) they had no way to escape from the planet and its impending end, (sure, they had magic, but not advanced knowledge of what to do with all that power and potential they had), they left their home planet thanks to "outside help"

Which basically means that a more technologically advanced alien species came to Tenebrae Prime and took the few resources left on the planet (the Umbratras were also considered resources); which means that this species was forcibly removed from its home planet by a superior alien species of conquistadors (but talking about them is a topic for another post)

These aliens initially tried to use the umbratras as food, but when they saw that they were more valuable as for labor than as food (the truth is that in the end they were not completely convinced by the "flavor") and thanks to the umbratras' ability to imitate, over the millennia, they made a name for themselves in the new alien society to which they belonged until they were finally seen as one of them instead of second-class citizens or slaves.

So over time the umbratras and the other alien species went and looked for other planets with resources either to conquer, colonize or control and that last thing is the reason why the umbratras are on Earth

Thanks to their mimicry abilities and high adaptability, they were tasked with patiently beginning to take control of planet Earth and its most intelligent species (humans) so the Umbratra throughout the history of humanity have infiltrated all circles of power all over the world to control humanity (insert any conspiracy theory here, just say an Umbratra did it and in this AU it might be true)

What do umbratras taste like?

Literally nothing, that's why it's not fun to eat them

Why are they called vampires?

That's the name that humans gave them, but they prefer the name that the Kryptonians gave them and that the other alien species later told them that was what they were called (they like Umbratra better because it sounds more mystical)

Why do they like the gothic style?

That was the fashion they imposed when they already had enough control over human tendencies, for them that is the coolest thing that exists (it is not a phase, it is a lifestyle)

Is it true that garlic is harmful to them?

No, but they don't like the smell of garlic and if possible they will try to get away from the source of the smell, even so they can eat food with garlic as long as they don't smell it

Can they eat human food?

Yes, although for pure umbratras human food has no nutritional value and they only eat it to keep up appearances, but in the case of umbratra-human hybrids, human food can feed them but does not increase their magical power

Are they afraid of crosses?

No, but it is something they invented and pretended they were afraid of in order to make humans feel that they had a way to defend themselves from them, the same with holy water or items

Why were they not reflected in mirrors?

This is a misunderstanding, in reality, umbratras are not reflected in silver, in ancient times mirrors were made of silver and it was for this reason that there was a time when it was easier to detect an umbratra/vampire, using mirrors

Why do they drink human blood?

Human blood is the closest thing, not to say that it is exactly the same as the liquid that the Sanguivium flowers produce and that was the main and only source of food for the Umbratras when they inhabited their home planet

Can they only transform into bats?

No, although this animal transformation is their signature transformation (it is literally the first animal transformation they used when they came to Earth) as long as they drink the blood or consume the animal they wish to transform into, they will take its form, although the color of the animal will coordinate with the hair color they have chosen for their human form

Why do they sleep in coffins?

At first, when they were adapting, they used cemeteries or caves as homes to go unnoticed, they would hide in coffins and pretend to be dead in their resting graves (also in cases where they needed to take naps for decades, they would pretend to die and be buried during their resting periods). In the end, it became something cultural for them and they continued doing it (plus it matched the gothic style they created and like so much)

Do they need oxygen or to breathe?

No, umbratras don't even have lungs and some of their hybrids don't need to breathe either, but they pretend to do so
