Beyond the Umbrans themselves, there are three other sentient races on Umbra. The Bacha are a violent and hateful race of millipede-like creatures that live in the caves of the world, a place that Umbrans fear to go, for fear of enraging the thing that dwells in the caves.
The Shades are a simple and shade-like race that only appear when they see fit, and often come with sage-advice for Umbran-kind. They rarely take up arms, but when they do it is said they are capable warriors.
And the Diluvians are a psionic race that finds itself stuck in both worlds. Diluvians do not have much interest in Umbrans, as the Umbrans have no minds to be read, as far as psionic powers go. A solitary race, they are neutral towards Umbrans in most every case.
Umbrans can lose their heads (quite literally!) Their head masks are actually quite empty, filled just with the shadowy ephemera that normally trails out from their heads. As a result, they do not have the ability to smell, nor can they truly form speech like we do. They instead use small bone protrusions in their fingertips to tap out their language on their head masks, while vocalizing general sounds to impart emotion. If they lose their head masks, they can still tap on their chestplates, but they lose the ability to vocalize for emotion, making it difficult for them to show their emotions in speech.
