She had a test, and that was the only reason that Wynn had come in today. She could last until then, the girl told herself; sheâd write it and go straight home, sleep off the fever that was making her cheeks flush and her head throb. At least, that had been the plan.
Unfortunately, her body had different ideas.
One moment, sheâd been walking up the steps, and the next - well, the next, she certainly wasnât on her feet any longer. Suddenly, Wynn was on her back, surrounded by voices that were murmuring urgently. Her body tensed as someone grasped her shoulder, and the girl drew away instinctively, her breath hitching at the contact. The world was a delirious swirl around her, a terrifying blur that left her feeling nauseous-

Had the voice belonged to anyone else, that single word would not have held the power of reassurance over her, and that tone would not have helped silence the terror that buzzed in her head.
   Because Dorian was safety.
âVynn... ?â He spoke softly now, and when he lifted her, Wynn relaxed. She felt awful, but there was no reason to be afraid, not anymore.
âIâm taking you home. How are you feeling?â
âGot... a test...â The words came out as a nearly incoherent mumble, and as soon as she spoke, Wynn sensed a frown on Dorianâs face.
âYour professor can make an exception. Youâre not vell.â
She didnât argue (not that she had the energy to), and the girlâs eyes fell shut as her head came to rest against his chest. Her breathing calmed as his heart thudded against her ear, his next words helping to quiet what remained of the worry in her head.
   âYouâre going to be alright.â
For why would she not believe him?
