Donnie gripped his shoulders and looked down at the ground, hoping it would hide his face. The hood on his jacket felt like it did nothing,making it feel like the entire world could see him....
And see what he has done.
He watched as Splinter and Raph returned from the emergency room, where Donnie was forbidden to go. He looked up into there eyes, seeing tear stains painted all across his older brothers face. Donnies heart skipped a bear when he heard his father's voice break the silence that enveloped their very souls.
They're gone.
At that moment, Don felt his world collapse. He started breathing heavily, as tears started to flood his eyes.
N-no! There- there has to be something I can do!
But he already knew what had happened. There was no turning back now. Once you're dead, you're dead.
Donnie couldn't keep his tears away any longer. He broke down onto the hospital floor and cried. Raph got down on the floor with him and put his arms around him. Don's strength gave out as he let himself fall into Raph's arms. There was silence for a few minutes. The only sounds to be heard were the noises of busy people in the hospital, and the quiet crying of two heartbroken boys.
Enough time had passed. Raph helped Donnie get up. He could barely stand. His legs shook like the leaves on a tree in a storm. Rph put his arms around him to help him keep his balance. Rph helped him out to the car. The seats were still drenched in the blood of those who say before them. Raph closed the door and went to comfort his collapsed father in the parking lot. Donnie watched, as guilty and pain piles on him like chains. He looked down at the blood on the floor.
For a minute, he stared, a part of it finding it comforting to look at.
He leaned closer.
The sent of it reached his nose.
His eyes widened as his mouth watered.
His heart started pounding in his chest.
His tongue came out, longing for just one taste.....
Then he flung himself back into his seat, and fastened his seatbelt.
What are you thinking!?!
He folded his arms over his legs and looked out the window. Raph and Splinter were walking back to the car.
Donnie sat, trembling st what just went through his head. The thoughts were cold, bringing back what felt like the memories of a monster.
Raph let Splinter into the passenger seat and drove him and his little brother home. In the review mirror, he could see Donnie trying to hide his mortified, tear stained face. Raph never usually felt this way towards Donnie, but now...
He was all he has left.
Something about the look on his face made Raph think that there was more going on than simply the pain of looking at his oldest and youngest brother.
His eyes held fear in them.
Raph kept quiet until they got back to the layer. Splinter went into the dojo, bearing an orange and a blue bandana. Donnie went to the solace of his lab. The bedroom was too painful for him to be in at the moment.
Raph, however, had nowhere else to go at the moment.
He walked into the bedroom and found an enormous mess. Papers strewn all across the floor from comic books, skateboards and pizza boxes, ripped open pillows, blankets and bedsheets, busted pipes, torn out Christmas tree lights that used to hang on the wall....
And blood.
Lots of it.
A couple pools of it were found in front of Leos bed. Raph took a better look around the room, hoping to find at least some kind of evidence as to what happened to his brothers. He found claw marks ripped across a poster hanging above Leo's bed. Raph took the poster in his hands and looked at it for a moment.
This isn't like anything I've ever seen!
He thought to himself.
What could've done this?
Raph thought for a minute, then snapped his fingers and ran to Donnies lab.
If anyone knows what this belongs to, it's Don!
