i gotta lot of feelings for Tyson so ima tell you right now.

Tyson is one of the bravest, kindest, and soft-hearted characters in the Percy Jackson series. his entire life, he’d grown up on the streets, all alone, getting scratched and hurt (putting it lightly) by all different kinds of mythical creatures. then Tyson finds out that Percy - his ONLY friend at the school he ended up attending - is his BROTHER. he finally has someone to call family, after YEARS of being on his own and suffering for so long. and it turns out that his only friend is related to him. that’s the biggest gift in the world to him.

he faces discrimination from other demigods, and Percy even gets uncomfortable with the fact that Tyson - a baby cyclops - is family. we don’t get his side of the story much, but he does feel sad and angry. he has to prove himself sometimes and it’s frustrating for him because he means well. and remember when he met Polyphemus? The older cyclops talked to him as if he was family, and told him to help him. but what did Tyson do? he helped PERCY. he helped him and his friends because he knew that the other big cyclops wanted to harm them, but Tyson wouldn’t allow it.

why? because he considered them friends too. Tyson never even backed down from a fight. when Percy needed help, he was there. he was scared a LOT. but he had the courage to stand up and fight for his loved ones, and if that doesn’t show how brave and kind-hearted he is, then i dunno what to tell you.

oh, and i can’t forget to mention the fact that he made a hand-crafted shield for Percy and their adventures TOGETHER with Annabeth and Grover (and Clarrise) that summer. talk about gifts coming from the heart.

tl;dr - Tyson, despite his fears and timid personality, is one of the bravest and soft-hearted beings in the Percy Jackson series.
