Good morning/afternoon/evening, does Hinadam count as a rare pair? if so, any thoughts about it?
I think Hinadam very much counts as a rare pair! And an underrated one at that! I remember while doing Gundham’s free time events thinking that Hajime would make such a great partner for Gundham. Romantically or otherwise. He might not always understand Gundham’s form of speech but damn if he won’t try his best to decipher it to the best of his abilities and connect with the residential goth. They have that straight man and eccentric bestie vibe lol. I can just picture Hajime being Gundham’s active translator when a stranger attempts to converse with him.
But honestly the sweetest thing about their interactions are the moments Gundham goes on about some kind of animal fact/insight and Hajime can’t help but be taken in by Gundham’s knowledge and clear love for animals. I’d like to think that Hajime would be the type of person to bring up animals in conversation just so he can see Gundham go on and on about his special interest and be perfectly happy with that. I also like to imagine a scenario where Hajime takes in a stray and Gundham appoints himself as his advisor to tame the beast he is now master to—and hey, Hajime does learn a thing or two about owning a cat! But it’s kinda obvious that it’s pretense so the two have an excuse to hang out even more with each other lol.
Don’t get me started on the whole Singularity thing too. The fact that Hajime is the only one deemed worthy to touch Gundham in any capacity is just AHHHH so wholesome! I have it in my mind that Gundham is somewhat touched starved but represses his urge for skinship due in part to his reservation around others. So when he allows Hajime to touch him, Gundham ever so slowly begins initiating some of those touches himself. Just little things, like a pat on the shoulder, a nudge here and there, and one time when feeling particularly bold, Gundham pats Hajime’s head (because he does that to all his treasured companions obviously there’s nothing more to it of course yeah). And Hajime returns the favor and Gundham hides his red face in his scarf as per usual lol.
