The real discourse in The Left Hand of Darkness is what you think the clothes look like. Do hiebs have sleeves? Do they look like tabards? When Genly and Estraven talk about leggings in Orgoreyn, are they like ye olde hose but made to keep snow out of your pants and boots? Are they a kind of overpant?
