Well this is more than a bit shit.
Yes, maybe the £ has skyrocketed in value.
Yes, this is probably due to the stability from Johnson's insistence that Brexit will happen regardless of anything else.
Yes as a teacher I stand to benefit from some of his policies
BUT
As a child who grew up in a single parent family relying on benefits (now replaced by the controversial universal credit)
As a young adult who has relied on food banks
As a human who relies on the NHS for my asthma, contraception, vaccines, general health and mental wellbeing
As a Daughter whose mum wouldn't have been able to afford the treatment for her cancer (which was detected my an NHS funded mammogram) and may have died without the NHS funded emergency C-section she had for my younger brother
As a Niece whose Aunt and Uncle may not have had access to treatment for their cancer without the NHS
As a teacher in a seriously deprived inner city area, where some of the kids I teach dont know where their next meal is coming from, dont know where they'll be living next week, wouldn't have access to food, shelter or medicine without our welfare state
The thought of another term of Tory rule is terrifying.
The thought of another term of cuts to welfare and cuts to tax for the rich/big business leaves me cold.
The thought of children waiting on the floor of our hospitals for a bed
The thought of a medical system that does not serve everyone free of charge
The thought of Trump-esque policies and ideas invading our shores
The thought of the babbling blundering baboon leading our country
Leaves me cold. Leaves me in tears. Leaves me wondering how people could care so little about each other.
When did people decide they dont care if their friends and neighbours die?
