Wake-Up Call for Britain
Reports that around 60,000 migrants have arrived in Ceuta should send shockwaves across Europe. Whether every figure proves accurate or not, the images and scale of the situation demand serious attention. To me, this does not look like a routine migration issue. It looks like the consequences of governments failing to defend their borders.
Some commentators dismiss any comparison with other countries, but I believe Britain would be making a grave mistake if it assumed "it could never happen here." History repeatedly shows that nations which ignore growing pressures on their borders often find themselves reacting far too late.
The United Kingdom is an island nation. That gives us an advantage that many European countries simply do not have. We should use it. Our territorial waters and coastline are not suggestions. They are our first line of national defence.
I am therefore calling on the British Government to take border security far more seriously. The Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, and the UK Border Force should have the resources, personnel, and political backing they need to defend Britain's maritime borders. Preventing unlawful entry should be treated as a core national security responsibility.
This is not about hatred. It is not about race. It is about sovereignty. Every nation has both the right and the duty to decide who enters its territory and under what conditions. That principle is fundamental to an independent state.
Many politicians continue to promise action while illegal crossings continue. Public confidence cannot be restored through speeches alone. It requires visible enforcement, secure borders, and policies that are consistently applied.
Britain must learn from what is happening elsewhere rather than waiting until it faces a similar crisis. We cannot afford complacency. Border security should never become an afterthought.
If we fail to protect our borders, we risk losing control over one of the most basic responsibilities of any sovereign nation. That is why I believe the Government must act decisively, strengthen our coastal defences, support our armed forces and border agencies, and ensure that the United Kingdom remains secure for future generations.
The time for hesitation has passed. Britain should act before events force our hand.
