Arman Tsarukyan believes Khabib Nurmagomedov is a better fighter than Islam Makhachev
I have Umar up 2-0 through 2 but it has not been easy. When Merab gets downhill, he is giving Umar problems and his form starts to breakdown. But Merab needs to stop giving Umar space at range. If he wants to win, he needs to stay moving downhill.
Merab Dvalishvili takes UD over Umar Nurmagomedov in fantastic fight!
I don't think there's ever been an athletic gift as overtly as OP in an MMA fighter as Dvalishviil's cardio. Like, I'm sorry that's one of those things you are born with. Like GGG power or Silva's reflexes. Merab just steadily built over the fight until he basically took over in the 3rd. Just constant pressure, takedown attempts, feints, and shots to the body.
Umar has nothing to hang his head over. Won two rounds and some change. He had a lot of moments, especially in that 5th round. As Merab was bouncing around at range it really looked like he was starting to come back and have success until Merab flipped the switch and started shooting over and over and over and over again.
Dvalishvili is a generational talent, man. Cardio fucking kills.

Islam Makhachev submits Renato Moicano in the 1st via D'Arce choke!
Welp, 2-1 on the night isn't too bad for Team Nurmagomedov.
Islam Makhachev submits Moicano. Props to Moicano, he came to fight. Looked confident and was throwing with intent with Islam on the feet. It looked like he might have actually knocked down Makhachev but commentary says it was a slip and the punch Moicano threw didn't actually land. Nonetheless, Makhachev got right back up and went to work. Shot in on the hips, got the single, ran the corner and pushed Moicano down at the shoulder. From there, Moicano worked to get free from half guard. Kicked at the hips to make space and while he tried to get up, Makhachev locked up the D'Arce with a quickness. Procedural for Islam.
Islam is now the sole owner of the most title defenses in UFC Lightwieght history (4) and tied for 2nd with the most consecutive wins in a row (15) with Kamaru Usman behind Anderson Silva (16).
Bogdan Guskov stops Billy Elekana in the 2nd round.
Goofiest finish of 2025 contender right there. Elekana had success early on, shooting for a takedown and getting to Guskov's back. Guskov spent like 3 minutes with Elekana on his back, looking completely lost and not knowing what to do. He suddenly clears Elekana's legs, gets up and takes Elekana's back. With seconds left he locks up a RNC. The bell rings and Elekana taps out right afterwards. The fight continues.
Both men are extremely exhausted in the 2nd round. Guskov manages to hurt Elekana along the fence and follows him around as Elekana throws up a high guard trying to survive. Finally remembers that he's allowed to punch the body and Elekana crumbles immediately. Then Elekana sits on a knee with his high guard up for like a minute. Guskov tries to punch around and through the high guard but is visibly tiring himself out. Then he just leisurely grabs up Elekana's neck for the ninja choke and Elekana taps immediately. Like, don't think Gustov had put any weight into it yet. 205, still as goofy as always.
Raoni Barcelos takes UD over Payton Talbott!
Great night for the veteran. 3 prospects got big steps up in competition (Talbott, Nakamura, and Carpenter) and they all got turned away. To be fair though, I think Talbott showed the most out of the three.
I've said this before, but Barcelos is so fucking good man. Like, had he got to the UFC 3-4 years earlier - contender good. And he's had some bad luck with tough match ups since getting here. But him being a huge underdog to Talbott made 0 sense. Still a great athlete and a way more complete fighter than anyone Talbott has ever faced. Just baited Talbott into takedowns all night and beat him up from top position. Very crafty performance from the veteran. Talbott, tried to get back into it. Arguably stole the 2nd in the back half with some great offense. And started the 3rd off real strong, looking like he was on his way to possibly getting a stoppage or at least taking the round. But Barcelos managed to secure one takedown and ended the fight hammering away at Talbott from top position.
This is the type of loss almost every great prospect has. And Talbott managed to look good despite being 30-26'ed on one card. He's only 4 years into fighting. Give him time.
