Usman getting away from the body shots hurt him in this one. Kept trying to head hunt and ended up getting tagged by Colby while entering. Covington did a good job of recovering after he got dropped in the 2nd round (no clue how people gave him the third though). Honestly though, given how badly Covington started this fight this was a bad performance from Usman. Dude still reacts super poorly to getting hit.

The fact that this saw the final bell is absurd. Chandler really saved himself by investing in the body throughout the fight cause I think that’s the only thing that really slowed Gaethje down from getting that finish. Tremendous fight throughout though. Gaethje battered Chandler’s lead leg with kicks to the thigh and calf. And when he started throwing those uppercuts, it was only a matter of time before one of them put Chandler down as Chandler’s primary defense is to basically crouch down. It floored him in the 2nd but miraculously, he managed to get back to his feet. Chandler had a big first round, rocking Gaethje a couple of times but also was on the receiving end of some big right hands. Just a wild fight all around and easily one of the best fights of 2021.
