Odysseus makes the distinction “Aggressive savages with no sense of right or wrong” Vs “hospitable god-fearing people” which was very likely the accepted thoughts at the time, but looking at it objectively today it's almost suggesting that if you aren't "hospitable" - which is in Odysseus' eyes giving them gifts like a host 'should' - or "god-fearing" - which the cyclopes happily weren't and were doing just fine away from god-fearing civilisation - then you had to be the opposite; "aggressive savages" with no morals.

Odysseus comes in and hunts his animals for food (which is fair enough) but then tests his luck by outright sneaking into his cave to beg for gifts from him as if the food wasn't enough??
