So tired after the flight. Had three English lessons, then went for a walk and took this picture. Fish and chips and mince pie eaten.

looking at thee my North sea what would I see
bedbound from one short walk
Tynemouth Travel Print
One of the best places in the North East with an amazing coastline and beaches, of course we had to make a Tynemouth Travel print. For all our North Easterners that love going to the coast, the secret is out and Tynemouth is the place to be!
This travel poster shows it in all it's glory, with the castle and priory in the distance.
Sand between my toes
The best laid plans are last minute plans, so when I received a message from my dear Nico, who I hadn't seen for too long, asking if I wanted to join her to the beach there was no other answer then yes. I finished up some work, grabbed myself some lunch - I'd made a pesto egg salad and would highly recommend! - and jumped onto the metro to Tynemouth.
Something that I am only slightly obsessed with is Laneway's divine peanut butter cookie dough blondie so when I realised they had recently opened their Tynemouth shop I could not contain my excitement. We grabbed an iced drink and my obsession, marvelled over the stunning new café with its wide open doors and simple interior, decided we'd come back for a productive co-working session as soon as possible, and finally headed to the beach.
St. Edward's Bay wasn't as busy as it could've been, so we pottered towards the edge of the priory's cliffs and a darling little waterfall and enjoyed a spot that was good for both sun and shade. We enjoyed the people, the music they'd brought, our drinks and snacks, the incredible weather, the sound of the sea, and the sand between our toes. We of course had to dip our toes into the sea which was incredibly refreshing, and as soon as a group of boys joined us in the water for a ball game we quickly headed back to our spot.
We chatted some more, put the world to rights, and when it was nearly dinner time we slowly made our way back into the city. With the fresh and salty sea air still on my skin, the sand still between my toes, and my hair in knots, I couldn't feel more scrubbed and cleansed. Nothing truly cleanses like a salty sea breeze or a sandy scrub, does it really?

Came across these photos of Tynemouth I took back in 2020.
Coffee in Tynemouth
I'm a lover of the coast, the sea, the sand, the rocks, the air, it all breathes life to me, so when I'm meeting with someone who's based on the coast you bet I'll be traveling their way! And since I, and presumably many of my followers, are a fan of coffee; here are some of my favourite coffee and lunch spots in Tynemouth.
Today I went to a new place with the lovely Lucie, we ended up at Priory Press because Regular Jo's was filled to the brim, and I needed some carbs... I went for an oat milk latte - standard - and a pressed avocado sandwich with mozzarella, pesto, and tomato and I can confirm it was as good as it sounds! This is coming from someone who's not a fan of avocado, so take that into account when reading this lunch review.
Previously I'd taken my parents for a day out in Tynemouth to visit the Tynemouth Priory and for lunch we ended up - not coincidentally - at Rene's, which is also my father's name! Most of us went for a toastie which came with a surprisingly good side salad and some crisps, which made for a delicious and rather filling lunch. Aside from the wonderful menu, the place is decorated like I'd have my future living room which was inspiring and made me feel at ease instantly. Comfortable chairs, funky wallpaper and some stunning mirrors make this a very aesthetically pleasing place for some food or a coffee stop!
I've saved the best for last; Gareth James Chocolatier which is situated on Tynemouth's high street and serves a fantastic cup of coffee and a glass of milk for those of not needing the caffeine. As you can guess, the rest of their assortment is quite the piece of art as well. You'll have to simply go and visit it yourself, with a small indoor café and a decently sized outdoor terrace they're a prime spot for a coffee, some chocolates, and people watching!
