as a rinharu fan this has GOT to be one of my favorite scenes in TYM, it’s already confirmed that Misaki, the kid Makoto and Haru talk to during the first episode of TYM, is a perfect combination between Haru and Rin. I love this interaction because not only does Haru immediately have Rin flashbacks but a few seconds after when they introduce themselves you can actually hear Rin and Haru’s leitmotif. I think that’s so fucking cool because not only is it like an original piece, it’s like a tiny “if you didn’t get the reference, maybe you might now??” type of thing going on and I LOVED it. I’ll eat that shit up any day. It’s called “seeds of hope” btw, also not long after in the scene where Haru starts swimming and this Misaki kid is awestruck “Watching his back” starts playing in the back WHICH ALSO has the rinharu leitmotif. Free! just pays so much attention to detail I’m honestly hooked.
