I feel like I’m always trying to twist my head around an in universe excuse for the decisions Lord Liu Kang (the writers) made for the New Era Timeline.
Like, Takeda being closer to Kenshi’s age rather than his son and Hanzo being a kid.
My excuse? Since it’s Liu Kang’s first timeline, he accidentally switched Takeda and Hanzo’s birth years.
He was never all that close to ether of them. So it stands to reason that he would mix up information about them.
Looking at all the changes made for the New Era Timeline, it’s apparent that Liu Kang did Not do any “research”.
Meaning he didn’t look back at anyone’s pasts with anything more than a cursory glance. (For some, it seems like he completely took them at face value.)
Either that or he couldn’t actually keep any of the information straight.
And how could he? He was human first. Even gods like Lord Raiden and Lord Fujin didn’t know everything. Gods in MK are not infallible paragons.
So. Yeah, I’ve chosen to believe kid!Hanzo is the result of Liu Kang making an oopsie. Now I can’t help thinking about one of the other Titans asking him why Skuaipion exists and him admitting it was a panic decision.

Nitara Headcanons:
Since she is Romanian, I thought of this because she is a Moroi which is a Vampire ghost in fiction. Moroi are phantoms who leave their graves to feed upon the living.
Her skin is unnaturally cold and her skin is pale and she has bags underneath her eyes and her eyes have a dead look to them (because in old vampire tales vampires were undead and would rise from their graves to feed upon mortal men and women. Also not every vampire is undead and has to be pale).
In mk1 her mother is mentioned at least two times. Her mother’s name is Kasomira and she was a Vaeternian general, the finest to ever serve. Nitara’s mother died in the Vaeternian war, Shao Khan killed her (got this from their dialogue). I wonder what Nitara’s relationship would be like with her mother…I’m sure that their relationship was loving and caring.
Mortal Kombat rant:
1. I wish more people in the mk fandom focused on games prior to mk1 (2023), specifically when it comes to Mileena. Mileena in the last two timelines are VERY different from the Mileena in Liu Kang's timeline, and to be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of her. She just doesn't feel like Mileena. She feels like Kitana with sharp teeth, which is technically the point, but Mileena was always still distinctly different from Kitana in that she was ravenous, blood thirsty, childish, and flirty. I love that version of Mileena. She's so silly. Ignore the hundreds of bodies, she's just so cute. But mk1 Mileena? She's very mature, and while still aggressive, I'm pretty sure she's more like Kitana. I just wanna see more love for the bloodthirsty angel in which is Mileena prior to mk1.
2. There's a really large focus on the male kombatants in comparison to the female ones. It's always Bi-Han or Kuai Liang or Jonshi and whatnot, and it's not bad to like them, but I'd like to see some more love for the girlies. This is a general fandom problem though.
- Side note, but they did Hanzo Hasashi so wrong in mk1. Dude I LOVE Hanzo Hasashi, but they took his title, his wife, his kid, and his entire clan, and gave it to his enemies to lovers ass rival. Bring back the original Hanzo Hasashi and Kuai Liang duo
3. Unrelated to fandom, but the mk1 costuming is..... yeah... It's pretty good with the men. They all feel mostly distinct from one another, but the girls? All of their costumes look the same but with color swaps. It doesn't really tell you much about the character. If I went in depth, I would probably end up with a full length book given that I yapped about mk9's god awful costuming for a full 8 pages. Actually, I could probably write a series about how messed up and evil the 2nd and 3rd timelines are
