I headcanon Chase's charade to get to Pogue is being that one really close gay friend with Kate but Pogue just assumes that he tryna hit on Kate to get to him.

I mean I'm really convinced that Chase is Gay. I'm sorry not sorry. No way he is straight, no way he only wants Caleb's power.

For some reasons I think Chase would not know who Harry Potter is, like imagine during his times tryna fit in the covegang with Reid and Tyler “Talks about fantasy novel- that one scene from Harry Potter doesn't make any sense! I literally cou- ouch, Tyler! If I had magic I could do it so much better! Harry Potter can kiss my ass.” “haha, right.” ... “who the fuck is Harry Potter.”

AND WE DEFINITELY NEEDS MORE OF CHASE BACKSTORY, I REALLY WANNA KNOW IF HE IS PURE EVIL OR JUST BROKEN.

I wish they make a remake of this movie and make either Sarah or Kate more essential, like Sarah has potential ain't no way I would read a history book about my bf's ancestors, it sounds too much like stalking no thanks. They could have make Sarah fights through Chase's magic when he makes her sleep and when Sarah wakes up again she can help Caleb.

And let's go to the friendship topic of this movie because why wouldn't they help him in the end, I know, I know. Pogue was in the hospital which is valid, Reid and Tyler were told by Caleb not to follow and help him but since when do these two listen? They don't have to kill Caleb's dad, or if they really want kill him just make Chase extra evil and him comes for his power.

And talking about dads and family where are others' at? Are they orphans? Do all of the covenant members have human raisins in their safehouse somewhere in the forest? I need them to explore more on that, and I would like to see some of their dads look their age or a bit older because he really knows how to control his power.

I really wanna see a witch, seriously, I need it.

IT'S ALL THE SAME, I really love the elements headcanon, personally I think Caleb would be water, Chase would be fire (because of how he was thrown into the fire in the last scene we saw him but there's no remains of him, he's probably alive somewhere. But he could be thrown into some void which is my fav theory lol) Pogue would be earth, Reid would be wind and Tyler would be Spirit. BUTTT I really wanna hear from everyone's thoughts, I luv collecting them like they are dolls.

I wanna know why they call them sons of Ipswich because I zoned out a lot during the movie, I have problems.

If there are some charms or anything that will bring normal humans a power like them, it would be fun to watch.

-I read Ipswich and assumed this was set in Ipswich Suffolk and was unable to take Any Of It seriously prior to watching. I only realised it was Ipswich MA when I saw all the trees and rain.

-We can debate the ethics of turning stories of mostly women murdered for being different and saying ‘no, they were actually witches’ all we want but the Worldbuilding/Lore is Cool and also really fucking funny.

-Staying with that point I was and still kind of am OUTRAGED that only the men get to be magic.

-I really like that Aaron and Kira are together. Genuinely, I bet they’re such an IT couple.

-‘The Sons of Ipswich’ is such a dork title. Were their fathers called this too?

-I don’t think this movie passes the Bechdel test

-I was barely able to tell Caleb and Tyler apart while watching. Still struggle tbf. I can tell Chase, but that’s because Seb Stan is so ugly imo.

-On Their Magic: this is not witchcraft. Black eyes??? None of this is witchcraft. These boys are straight up harnassing the devil’s energy.

-We’re just not gonna talk about the Harry Potter line.

-Staying on this point, why do their eyes change colour depending on what they do?? Like with Reid; one second they’re black next they’re yellow, next they pulse??

-Music from the Nicky’s bar scene was upbeat

-The ENTIRETY of this school + the movie itself is way Way too unconcerned with the literal death of that guy. Its like they forgot about it fifteen minutes later. They’re so chill?!???!! Maybe its an America thing idk I’m not from there but still??? Caleb and Pouge seem so Unbothered while ACCUSING THEIR CLOSEST FRIEND/BROTHER OF MURDER???

-Pouge mentions have read the BoD as a kid, I love thinking of these parents sitting the kids down with these gigantic old timey texts. Can they read Old English?

-Why don’t these famillies just stop having kids?

-I still don’t get what that bathroom mess was about. Was it Reid watching her or Chase? At first I thought it was Chase watching and Reid ‘sensing’ Chase and going after him but then later on Reid doesn’t believe Chase has magic so it was Reid??

-some of these camera shots are so 2000’s I could pinpoint this movie if I wasn’t told when it came out

-Caleb is a bit of a wet paper towel. Keeps on getting peer pressured. I think the mom needs to round up the rest of the gang and screech this into their heads too.

-Chase is so unremarkably bland as a character that I felt nothing when the villain reveal came. Kind of expected. Too villan-y. Maybe its Seb Stan’s face.

-the plotwist of Caleb’s Dad still being alive shocked me more than the villain reveal I’m ngl, it really sounded and felt as if he was dead. Stuck in limbo and wasting away despite being so young. I can kind of understand why the mom turned into an alcoholic (i think?? That’s implied)

-Makes me wonder what happened to the parents of the other three. Some of them have to have fled the town.

-I know all of three things about Tyler. 1: his name. 2: He’s too pussy to lie to Caleb’s face. 3: He’s tighter to Reid than Pouge and Caleb are.

-Seriously WTF. The movie is kinda centered around these four brothers but wE GET NO TYLER #JUSTICEFORTYLER

I see Tyler as a reader but the type of reader who really does have to be in the mood to read. He can go months without reading a book for pleasure and then, all of a sudden, he’ll get into the mood to read and he’ll plow through four or five books in under the span of a month. He’s not someone who can have more than one book on the go at a time, so he accumulates a pretty solid tbr list. He does have a library card and does use it often, but he’s also big into using his kindle and has a kindle unlimited subscription. His tastes in books varies a lot but he likes a lot of horror novels, thrillers, detective stories, true crime non-fiction books, war novels, and he doesn’t mind some of the classics – he’s a big fan of Poe, for example. He’s pretty open to audiobooks too and, if an audiobook hits him right, he’ll support the author even more by buying a paperback of the book in question.

Tyler has slight misophonia – asmr does not relax him and in fact, most of it makes him visibly uncomfortable to just plain out pissy. People whispering, in particular, gives Tyler major icky feelings and, if it continues on for too long, he finds himself getting annoyed no matter how hard he tries to relax and keep calm.

Tyler likes animals a lot. He’s had pets from the time he was young and, even while boarding at Spencer Academy, he still has pets that his parents take care of for him, two border collies that are named Lola and Boots, that he drops by to visit whenever possible. He’s someone who couldn’t go too long without a pet and who would rather hunt for a lot longer, and pay a lot more, for an apartment that allowed pets rather than go without them.

Tyler really cares about what others think of him and he’s really sensitive to anything that seems like disapproval. This negative trait becomes stronger when it involves people that Tyler is close to or really cares about, like the other boys. Because of this, there’s a lot of things that Tyler likes or is interested in that he kind of hides because he thinks that they’re not ‘cool’ or that he’s sure, in his mind, that they’d make fun of him for. He has recurrent nightmares where he’s on the ground in the middle of a huge mob of people, who are all pointing, laughing at him, mocking him in vicious tones and the nightmares always make him cranky and on edge the following day.

One of the things that Tyler keeps pretty hidden is that he really has a soft spot for cute things. Squishmallows are something that Tyler would be all in on, because they’re cute, fluffy, and soft, and he either has a couple hidden away in his bedroom at home that he throws under the bed when people come over or he wishes he could relax enough to buy one. He likes the ones that look like animals the best.

There is one thing that Tyler considers ‘embarrassing’ that he hides from most people, but does share with Reid, both because Reid is his best friend and because it’s something they share in common. That’s the fact that Tyler really enjoys anime. While the boys often watch things that align more with the type of thing that Reid likes, which is shonen (both boys are huge One Piece fans), what Tyler does hide, even from Reid, is that he loves both shoujo anime and moe things – ToraDora! Is one of Tyler’s favourites, along with Umaru-chan, who he finds adorable.

Tyler has loved cars and mechanics since he was young. He was chomping at the bit to get his license and got his beginner’s the second he could, even studying for months beforehand to ensure that he could. He’s so proud of his vehicle and takes a lot of care with it, making sure he’s keeping up on routine maintenance, taking it through the car wash regularly, and thoroughly cleaning and detailing the inside at least quarterly.

Tyler has a fear of skunks after getting sprayed by one when he was a kid. He was at summer camp and he and some of the other boys stumbled across a little family of skunks. Tyler can still, if he thinks about it, clearly recall the smell and taste of that incident and how very long it seemed to linger.

It’s funny because, despite having these magical powers that he can freely use, Tyler doesn’t really have much belief in the paranormal. He doesn’t believe in ghosts, aliens, or any of that sort of stuff. Darklings and the creation spell and such, the things in the book, sure he can believe in those because he’s been hit in the face with them and knows they have to be real. But everything else paranormal or cryptid related? Tyler just does not believe in the least.

I did this one up for my polyship with Tyler and Reid from The Covenant. The truth is that I actually struggle a lot with my birthday every year, though its gotten a bit better over the years. I really do rely on self-ships and such to keep my spirits up and make me feel like the day might even be something semi-close to being even marginally celebrated.

When I think of our relationship, when I think of me, Tyler, and Reid as a couple, I do think birthdays are celebrated. Unlike with my own, I’m super passionate about celebrating each of their birthdays. I do everything I can to make sure that each of their days is celebrated in different ways though, because each of the boys are so different. We all compliment each other really well, but just at their cores, both Reid and Tyler are different and like different things for their birthdays.

Reid loves having his birthday be a huge thing. He’s someone who craves attention and excitement. He wants that big birthday party. He starts hinting, about a month in advance, how nice it would be if someone were to throw him a surprise party. He hints about gifts he’d like. Of course, me and Tyler pick up on his hints…it’s pretty damn impossible not to and we work together on planning out a big party for him. If Reid’s on at least semi-decent terms with anyone, they get invited. To Reid, the bigger a party, the more people to adore him and celebrate his birthday, to make him the center of attention, the better. However, because we want to celebrate him in a more personal manner, we make the party in the evening. We take the day and make it all about him. We wake him up with morning sex and then a long hot shower together. After that, Reid gets to relax completely while we make him breakfast. We take him out for the day after that. We head up to Salem. Reid’s a big fan, for some reason we will never understand, of Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery so we check that out, catch a late lunch at a resturant, check out the Misery Islands. Tyler makes up an excuse about needing something for Reid so that I can head back a little bit early, where I set up everything for the party, with the help of the other Sons and their partners. When Reid and Tyler do get back, he fakes (badly so) the surprise part of the surprise party but is incredibly happy to party way into the wee hours of the morning.

For Tyler’s birthday, he’s much more subdued in how he wants it celebrated. Since I figure he’s born in the winter months, probably December, it’s peak snowboarding season. We celebrate his birthday a little earlier with his parents, as he’s the one of us who is closest to their parents but for his birthday proper, he likes to get away for it. We pack the car and do the three hour drive up to Great Barrington’s ski resort, alongside Pogue, Caleb and their partners. We do a weekend get away up there for his birthday. It’s small, intimate and a ton of fun.

Caleb: Disappoinment, disgruntled, malcontented...

Chase: Hey! Okay, I know you all have mixed feelings for me, but I swear.... I've seen a therapist! Ok, and now I'm a new person and I will behave, I promise, I will be good. So, with that in mind, I was wondering if you could ever consider making me part of....

Caleb: NO, you threatened to kill my friends and family!, you cursed Sarah and Kate!, you sent Pogue to the hospital!, we won't forgive you!, we're still... still... we're still SMAD at you!
