ideas???? fuck, too many tbh. i’m always a slut for smut, so i’m debating writing a short fic that’s PWP. i’m also considering writing something fantasy-angled. and i’m currently writing a sort-of-angsty soulmate au
5. Share one of your strengths.
prose, specifically lyrical prose. i’m not sure how much this shows in my fics, specifically in my longer fics, but i know from my short story writing that i’m good at making the text in between dialogue sound good and propel a reader through a story
13. What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
a poet/flash fiction writer that i met once told me to “throw rules and expectations out of the window. fuck tradition, fuck what your professors are looking for, fuck the contemporary box that fiction is being constructed in. pay attention to your characterizations, pay attention to conflict and tension, and make sure that your fiction is one step above real life, whether that be one step more dramatic, one step more intense, one step more depressing, whatever. if you keep your characters grounded in reality, if you keep things interesting, fuck everything else. who cares about grammatical rules? who cares about structure? no one. all that matters is the story underneath.” (mostly paraphrasing, but it’s like 98% of what she said)
