The first time I saw & heard this record as a 14-year old midwest kid (a friend brought it back on a trip CA in 1983), it SCARED me. The cover art was like nothing I had ever seen before. The message was so blatant - it felt like it was more taboo than getting caught with a porn mag at that age, honestly. And then when I threw it on? HOLY SHIT!
This record still stands up so hard af. Like, maybe even NOW then back then. The guitar tone & volume was like none other (you can't listen to it at low volume & have it sound "quiet"). And Dave's voice had so much anger & contempt in it.
This record will always haunt me, & will always be one of my favorite Hardcore releases ever. PERFECT Hardcore. Whether the lyrics be political or not, this lineup was unstoppable.
The artwork, the image, the layout; the effect it conveys on the listener / viewer...
