"Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there." ~Otomo no Yakamochi
Twyl Alamilla grew up in Caligo, spending much of his time in his parents’ herbal shop. Like most children in Caligo, he was homeschooled, and under the guidance of his parents, Rory and Ulfgar, he became certified as a level I herbalist.
Quiet and introspective as a child, Twyl was often targeted by peers due to his shorter, plumper stature. When his Solar magic manifested at 14, he experienced a sudden growth spurt, shooting up to 6’5” practically overnight. With his newfound height and strength, Twyl became interested in athletics, eager to prove himself after years of bullying. His growth spurt and kind personality quickly made him popular among the youth of Caligo.
When his parents' marriage began to deteriorate, Twyl applied to the Elucidan Academy to escape the growing tension at home. As a half-Solarelf, he was entitled to Elucidan citizenship and was accepted into the academy at 17. His remarkable height and athleticism soon caught the attention of Captain Rakesh Nair, who recruited him into the Solar Monarch’s Royal Guard.
Under Captain Nair’s training, Twyl excelled, forming a close, familial bond with the man. By 21, he had outperformed his peers and was selected from a pool of 500 cadets to serve as the personal guard to [REDACTED]. After four years of service, however, a scandal led to his dishonorable discharge and exile, forcing him to return to Caligo.
Twyl is skilled in multiple martial arts and weapon techniques. His weapon of choice is a dandpatta, or gauntlet sword. He can seamlessly switch between Verdant and Solar magic, allowing him to manipulate plants, create and convert sunlight into energy, and withstand poisons and extreme conditions. Though he is proficient in both, he uses Solar magic more frequently, feeling a deeper connection to the element.
Twyl enjoys sweet-smelling flowers, warm weather, and the thrill of competition. He dislikes mushrooms, pushy behavior, and being still for extended periods. If Twyl had a favorite song, it would be Love in the Dark by Adele.
