New member for the Ramshackle Dorm! Even though the new event is for the JP server, I'm still excited to see what the story is!! I feel like a kid again, obsessed with The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Game-Prefect can say, “Let’s go interview the next victim" or “Thank you,” aligning with Yuuya, though Yuuya thanks Vil at Pomefiore instead of the victim in the nurse’s office.

Game-Prefect can say, “How is this any different from being beaten up?,” similar to Yuuya’s response of deciding the game is “straight-up bullying,” but while Game-Prefect’s other choice is “Enough already. Stop this!,” Yuuya declares that he will be going for help.

Game-Prefect can tell Jamil that they are inspecting the school cafeteria’s kitchen for safety or that they are going to him at the Headmage’s behest.

Yuuya does not say anything in the novel, with Cater telling Jamil they are working at request of the Headmage, instead.

Game-Prefect has the option of asking Jamil if he became dizzy or sleepy while he was cooking.

Yuuya does not ask either question in the novel. Instead, Riddle comments that Jamil must have gotten careless and asks if he was tired from spelldrive tournament preparations.

Game-Prefect can declare that the culprit is Ruggie or say, “The culprit is one of us!,” but in the novel it is Grim who says that their culprit is Ruggie, not Yuuya.

Game-Prefect can call Ruggie a coward or say that he is acting cowardly, neither of which Yuuya says.

Riddle calls Ruggie a coward in the novel, instead.

While Game-Prefect can tell Jack, “If you truly want to stop them, work with us” or “The most successful wolves hunt in packs,” Yuuya apologizes for his phrasing and gives the example of himself and Grim being at a loss until they received help from others, encouraging Jack to think of their situation as an alliance.

Game-Prefect has the option of asking Leona “Have you learned nothing from all this?” or “That doesn’t sound like remorse to me.”

A similar line is said by Jack in the novel (“You still haven’t learned your lesson?”), not by Yuuya.

The majority of the Game-Prefects dialogue options (over 70 in Book 2) were not reflected in the novel, and those that were have all been collected here:

Option 1: This from the guy in Gastronomy Club… Grim: The Gastronomy Club’s all about EATIN’ good food, not cookin’ it!

Option 2: I can’t get the smell of almonds and violets out… Grim: Man… l’ve been smellin’ good this whole time, but I don’t taste good at all to lick. Feels like I’m gettin’ the short end of the stick.

Option 1: He’s really on top of the world after being dubbed a knight, huh. Deuce: I get why, too. There’s something so cool about getting your own title. Grim: You could always call yourself “Cauldron Deuce of Class A.” Deuce: *sputter* Grim, come on! Shut UP!

Option 2: I could see him putting that in the name field on his tests. Ace: I hear he pulled that in a History of Magic quiz, and Trein deducted points and told him to fill in his name properly. Grim: Even I’ve never gotten marked down for THAT.

Option 1: I won’t say it’s wrong to think that way, but… Ace: See? It’s like I told you. Some people would rather live in pleasant dreams than harsh realty. I KNEW there’d be people like that. Deuce: But that has to be coming from people who didn’t experience this magical disaster for themselves…right? Everyone on Sage’s Island knows first-hand what it was like to be trapped in Malleus’ spell. Surely none of THEM think like that, right? Epel: Hmm. I’d like to think so. From what I hear, once they woke up, a lot of them wondered why they had the dreams they did. In fact…l kinda thought the same thing. Deuce: Yeah, so did l. I shudder to imagine what it would’ve been like to spend my whole life in that dream without ever realizing it was fake. Ace: Oh yeah? What kinda dreams did you guys have? Deuce & Epel: NO COMMENT!

Option 2: People actually want to spend their whole lives in Hornton’s dream? Jack: That makes no sense to me. Achieving your dreams is only meaningful ft you do it through your own hard work. Though I have to admit, I might not have agreed with that if you a said It to me while I was in that self-serving dream. Ortho: Heh heh. I’m not surprised you’d say that, Jack. I imagine that for the people in that group, the dream worlds that Malleus created must be like amusement parks to them.

Option 1: Silver hair just feels more you. Sebek: Moreover, isn’t your name derived from the color of your hair? If you changed it, we’d have to start calling you Gold. That would just get confusing

Option 2: The blond look was kinda nice too. Silver: …Oh, you think so? Thank you, Prefect. Sebek: What? Come now, Prefect. Think about it. Silver’s name is derived from his hair color. If he changed it, we’d have to start calling him Gold. That would just get confusing.

A breakdown of the "Yuu" names until Book 3 was for some reason hidden in a theory post about the prefects maybe being in a coma 🧐

Here is that information pick up, with the addition of Yuuna and some interesting conversation that was discovered on JP side:

In the manga, all four prefects that we have seen thus far have had names connected to the afterlife:

・Heartslabyul Arc, Enma Yuuken (円満 雄剣): Enma's family name is pronounced the same (the kanji is different) as 閻魔 (Enma), the king of hell in Buddhism. From the Kyoto National Museum website: "The King of Buddhist Hell is Enma, who is also the judge of the afterlife."

・Savanaclaw Arc, Hirasaka Yuuka (比良坂 悠河): "Hirasaka" is written and pronounced the same as the hirasaka of Yomotsu-hira Saka, known as "The Entrance to the Underworld" in Shintoism, explained on Shimane Prefecture's official tourism website: "Yomotsu-hira Saka appears as the boundary between the land of the dead and the land of the living."

・Octavinelle Arc, Mito Yuuta (三途 宥太): "Mito" uses the same kanji as 三途川, the "River of Three Crossings," which is "a mythological river the souls of the deceased must cross by one of three crossing points." Credit to blogger Tansho for the discovery that "River Styx" was changed to 三途川 in the Japanese-language dub of the "Hercules" TV show.

・Scarabia Arc, Oujou Yuuna (逢生 結菜): Yuuna’s family name is pronounced the same (the kanji is different) as 往生 (oujou), a term in Japanese Buddhism for rebirth in the Pure Land. There is also 大往生 (dai-oujou), which means “peaceful death.”

While searching for additional theories I found a fascinating few ideas posted anonymously, translated below:

If you follow the names of the prefects backwards starting from Chapter 4, Oujou (death) → Mito (crossing the River Sanzu) → Hirasaka (going to the afterlife) → Enma (receiving judgment from Enma) It might be a bit of a stretch, but it kind of looks like there’s a connection there.

If it goes Enma’s judgment → Sanzu River → Rebirth, then it kind of feels like they’re moving from the afterlife back toward the world of the living. Not that it means anything in particular, it’s just a baseless theory, haha.

Now that I think about it, haven’t all the manga protagonists followed the same pattern so far? Enma, the kendo club captain, gets whisked away by a black horse while waiting for a bus. Hirasaka, likely a promising judo athlete, was taken while trying to rescue a kitten in the rain. Mito was delivering something for his family's store and got taken after trying to take a shortcut. So all of them seem to have been pulled into Twisted Wonderland while in the middle of pursuing something.

Option 2: It’s sure nice to have the whole gang back together. Ace: Man, I’m stuck with you guys even in my dreams? And why’re you grinning, Prefect? If you were gonna wake me up, you could ve been more gentle about it!

Option 1: Getting carried away as usual… Deuce: Quit grinning, Ace. You’re weirding me out. Hey, Prefect. Maybe we ought to leave him in this dream after all.

Option 2: Yeah, I missed you. Ace: C’mon, Prefect. You re supposed to give me a hard time too, not get all sappy on me. Way to throw me off.

Option 1: Nope, it looks fine to me. Grim: Whenever Riddle sees me with a crooked ribbon, he straightens it out and goes, “Disorderly attire gives rise to a disorderly society.” His mom’s super-strict, right? If my ribbon ain’t on right, she might rip it off…!

Option 1: Wouldn’t light make you stand out more? Silver: Yes, it does seem like that would instantly give away your location.

Option 2: It’s kind of pretty. Ortho: It really is. It’s like he’s covered in sparkly LEDs.

Option 1: Does he look…different to you guys? Floyd: “Different,” nothin’. My whole face is wrong! I don’t look that ridiculous. Ortho: It’s like your face has been turned into a low-poly model.

Option 2: His facial features are way oversimplified, right? Idia: It’s like Floyd would be if he were drawn in an absurdist comedy manga… Floyd: That’s beyond absurd! He doesn’t look remotely like me!

Option 1: Hold on, Grim…! Ortho: Sheesh…Grim can be so hopeless sometimes. Let’s join him, Prefect.

Option 2: Guess I gotta wow ’em with my moves! Ortho: Prefect, did you develop a taste for dancing in Rook Hunt’s dream? Okay, I guess I’d better tag along too.

Option 1: Shouldn’t we stop them? Sebek: Hmph! The merfolk brought it on themselves. Stay out of it! Silver: This won’t damage the restaurant in reality, so it’s fine.
