First of all i can say that this show is pretry amazing so far. The visual style is so beautiful and had me thinking several times that this is cinema quality. The matte painting backgrounds were a beautiful homage to kld star wars, and its just great to see that,even in a dark show, we're getting a major creative project that isnt devoid of color.
Onto the characters. Maul, youre as beautiful as the day i lost you. I cant begin to tell you how amazing he looks. And honestly hes pretty scary here! I probably should ha e known we wouldnt get a glimpse into his payche just yet, and right now i think the show is having us believe at first that he has everything together. New fans will think so. Old fans know the truth. It was honestly a little upsetting to see him resemble his old master so much, but at least he wasnt as terrible? That code of """ethics"""" that sam mentioned. You can kind of tell hes an emotional wreck if you pay as close attention to him as i do.
Devon seems pretty promising, but i wish we got at least a little more to be introduced to her before she was thrust into the action. She seems very much like a mix of ahsoka and what i know about ezra. Her master is pretty cool so far and i get a kick out of him being voiced by the allstate guy.
It was cool to see rook again, and it seems like, even though shes his closest solder, therrs still some things shes kept in the dark about. He still keeps her at arms length.
It was cool to see the zabraks, but im also side eyeing the "down, boy" comment
And onto vario. He felt very steve buschemi in spirit. I know he wasnt voiced by him but come on, he easily could have. Classic sniveling littke guy
Spybot. Oh my god do i love him. Mauls little bond villain cat, his little gremlin son. But hou know, i saw him and i instantly thought of deenine. I wonder if they really will include some of that book. I can only dream.
Lawson im kind of confliced about. Hes okay on paper, but he also feels like your thpical coppaganda protagonist. Divorcee going off the books to catch the bad guy. Who knows maybe he'll eventually get paired with an idealistic rookie, or maybe thats what twoboots is. Either way its good to hear wagner mouras voice again.
The pacing was interesting. It went by quickly but you could also tell that they didnt want to give away too much too quickly. I also kind of figured that maul put devon in that cel cause he was soecifically trying to see if she had the cunning to escape, as some kind of exercise. But maybe i figured that out because i recently started the wrath of darth maul. Its gonna be interesting to see where this all goes.
