iâm not going to deny (as a jew) that there is anti-semitism in the pro-palestine movement. however. there is also antisemitism in the zionist movement. there is antisemitism everywhere. but that doesnât mean we should not support palestine.
philadelphiaâs biggest crime in terms of park planning (even beyond their current crimes of not taking care of fairmount even remotely) is what they did to love park. on the left is love park in 2021 after ârenovationsâ. this is was love park looks today. on the right, is love park in 2015. before, it was a meeting space (and third space) for especially young black and brown skaters due to itâs the fountain which people used to do tricks on. however, neighbors complained citing âsafetyâ concerns and ânoiseâ issues. what we have today is a space which almost no one wants to go to. it could have been like washington square park in philadelphia, a place where anyone can go with a thriving skating community, but it just instead represents the lack of respect the philadelphia government has for the young black and brown children and teenagers who live here. while rittenhouse gets to be maintained due to its importance of the housing market, poor philadelphia residents are the ones who actually have to take care of their public spaces while the government attempts to curry more and more wealthy people to the city. iâve attached a skater named tyshawn jones so you can see how incredibly talented the skaters were. (this video is from twitter by @/sk8erbwoy)
ultimately, we can learn a lot from love park. how to design places to attract young people, what skaters and other subcultures look for in a public space, and when to know when to fight back against a city governmentâs act. but mostly what we learn is that public space is not guaranteed, but it should be.
ok ya we make fun of oasis a lot. but their songs hit. donât look back in anger? peak. wonder wall? ITS GOOD!!! im sorry

something i think is really interesting about judaism is that there are movements that simply. do not believe that the torah (the main book of judaism) was written by god. i mean in what other religion would this be widely adopted. why hasnât similar ideas spread further? what makes judaism different from them? while orthodox claim that jews who believe this are heretical, they are still forced to engage with these arguments that the torah was simply written by people trying to make sense of the world. there are also multiple movements within orthodoxy that force them to engage with this argument as wellâ like the fact that there are orthodox individuals who believe in science and evolution. if the torah is wrong about adam and eve, what else could it be wrong about? itâs so just so interesting to me.
itâs truly such a shame that not everyone in this world knows how sexy n cool n fun the eighth doctor isâŠ
