Sure, we had the official ending schism between Abigail and Nathan. I'm still sore about that. I feel that Abigail was a character who was built up and then tossed aside, and her last scene was a rushed and rather merciless bow-out. Yes, I was one of the people that loved Nathan and Abigail as a couple and wanted to see them work out.

But Nathan hasn't spent nearly as much time with Abigail as TOKI has. Now here was an opportunity for some tender feelings. I would have loved to have seen a growing friendship between the two as they might have been able to relate to each other and heal together. Some group therapy sessions with Dr. Twinkletits, perhaps? Maybe they could go to a rage room and destroy a bunch of things to let loose? I saw an unshakable and supportive friendship as a possibility. Dare I say an eventual romance? (Oh, yeah - I did more than think about that.)

I understand that this film was all about the unity of the group as a family and the value of the fans, but I feel like many important possible subplots and character building moments were ignored. That said, it takes a film in its entirety to address the family-oriented group dynamics of Dethklok.

As much as I may grouse, Army of the Doomstar was an exciting movie and it had some wonderful voice talent. I loved seeing some of my old favorite characters and how they shone in their own spotlights. The music of the film was super and I still need to listen to the new album tracks. And visually, it was nothing short of stunning. I applaud the hard work that went into this movie. It has been a long time coming, and the time, the thought and care that went into creating it shows. Plus, a movie can never please all of its fans and can only address so many themes.
