It was the soft tickle of hair against the underside of your chin that woke you up. As you were lightly roused from the deep comforting darkness, the tickle turned to the soft press of lips, soft and full. Unwilling to be roused from the dark blanket of sleep, the light nip upon your jaw put forward a convincing argument as your breath hitched.
Still unwilling to part from the darkness, you entangled your fingers in the hair you knew to be red, despite the owners arguments to the contrary. Lightly scratching your fingertips against her scalp withdrew a light hum, almost a purr, from her lips, still pressed against your jaw. A smile tugged at your lips as your fingers slipped from her hair and slowly slid down her spine.
Her weight upon your arm and against your side was all kinds of comforting.
Inhaling deeply, you allowed yourself to get lost in the moment as your fingers slipped underneath her top as they reached the little dip in base of her spine, nails lightly scratching as they slid back up her spine. The pressure of her arching against you was familiar and reassuring.
Years of your lives had been swallowed by darkness and grief, still felt to this day, but to have moments like this, consumed by each other, it almost made it bearable.
Her voice, husky from sleep, whispering your name, brought you back into the present. Now wasn’t the time to think of friends long past, of whatever terrors the supernatural world may hold, now was the time to devour the joy and pleasure brought by each other. And as you pressed a soft kiss to her brow, you were once again thankful that the world had brought you together.
