M*A*S*H and what is the value of old television?
In this month's episode of willowmosby watches a show older than she is we're watching M*A*S*H. Normally I've learned the second I talk about a new show here I'm doomed to not finish but well I have thoughts and not a lot of faith in me finishing a show with 11 seasons.
This cut is just not crowd a tag I don't really follow with some random ramblings, not to hide mature content or spoilers etc.
After loving Doc Martin, we just discovered Best Medicine.
We used to wonder how an US version of Doc Martin would work and joked that "The Doc would live in the fanciest house up the hill while the town is sick because no one can afford an appointment"
So now, actually watching it, we can't but to wonder "Does Elaine have everyone's insurance on file? Do the patients get a bill at home after the appointment? How many times someone would have sued Martin already? Are there really towns in usa where the health system works like this?
Maybe my perception is too distorted after living in a city in FL for 20+ years, but the idea of just going to the doctor without being a hassle and not costing an eye in the US is surreal.
Apart from that, or maybe because of it, we are enjoying the show, the cast, and how they adapted so many little details into the US setting. (We still don't get to Martin Clunes' episode, but love that he shows up too)
Genuinely, Arcane is like the peak (so far) of the types of stories you can tell with the modern entertainment format. Super fast paced, action packed, intense character arcs where a lot happens but you have just enough time to digest it all and see the effects without feeling like things are rushing, a complex interwoven narrative where every episode leads into the next - and extremely binge-worthy if that's the way you consume media.
The only problem is not every modern show is, or should be, what Arcane is. (In my opinion - should be more of a balance between long form shows and short form shows like Arcane).
Anyway I'll dream of a universe where every new release show is as good as Arcane is and knows its strengths and plays to them so well.

'Under the banner of Heaven' has an ensemble of actors whose acting continues to hit it out of the ballpark every episode. My gosh, I get so terrified of some of the characters, its that good. The storytelling is also great, weaving in and out of characters.
I continue to be amazed by the acting of Daisy Edgar Jones and her ability to pull off accents flawlessly. Can't wait to see her in 'Where the Crawdad's Sing'.

Continuing my binge watch of all the Chicago shows now almost five weeks in, and can someone just find me a Jay Halstead already? He’s by far my favorite of all three shows (I still haven’t watched any of Justice yet) so far. And Jesse is just the most adorable in behind the scenes and interviews. I still can’t believe he played Ashley’s tutor Taylor on Two of a Kind back in the day, and it took me a season and a half of PD before I looked up his previous tv and film appearances and realized I had seen him when I was a kid in an old Mary-Kate and Ashley show, but I knew I had known him from somewhere when I first started PD, I just was not expecting it to be that. Small world, even in television. 😂🙈
I feel like I haven’t done a tv show ramble on here forever but I started watching Phenom because of Judith Light and Ashley Johnson and I knew going in I only had 22 episodes but I’m halfway through now and already mourning the loss of it ITS SO GOOD.
The Bold Type got renewed for a final season. I am both optimistic and HEAVILY skeptical that they’re going to be able to dig themselves out of the hole they dug at the end of season 4.
