Kaka Point is the location of iconic New Zealand poet Hone Tuwhare’s crib (batch for North Islanders) which is the focal point of this location-specific Artist in Residence. Kaka Point is a beautiful small seaside town with approximately 400 residents among plenty of cute little cribs. At the southern end of the many sweeping beaches stands Nugget Point. A spectacular headland with scattered islands crumbling from the edge  out to the Pacific Ocean. Perched at the top a historic lighthouse.

Week 1 at Kaka Point has involved time at Hone’s crib documenting the space and the surrounding environs including kai moana, surfing and meeting the locals, notably Hone’s close fiend Norman and Glennis Woods.

Between the four artists we have a large assortment of digital & analogue, moving & still cameras that have been kept busy.
