Tuul (pronounced like: *water splashes into pool* *water glugging out of a vessel* *last drops of water trickles into pool*) the Greater seraph (she/her)
Here she's rearing on her hind legs, to get a better look at a potential threat and/or to look bigger. Seraphs can mimic most sounds, and they love doing it, so their names are very long and can be very complex. Different parts of a name are passed down to younger generations. Usually, the first part of a seraph's name comes from a sound they latched onto while young. Sometimes, the last part of their name is a common sound in the geographical region they hatched in, sometimes it's the first part of the name of a particularly cool or famous ancestor, sometimes it's a sound that complements the first part of their name, etc.
Her full name is Tuulmefiestadede, and I can't for the life of me figure out what I meant by most of it but I know -dede is the last part of a chickadee's alarm call and the first part of a politically successful ancestor's name. Someday I will learn how to phonetically write this.
To say the first part of her name as a human you gotta get a bunch of spit in the back of your throat, make a click with your tongue against the very back of your throat, gargle for a while, and then kinda suck the spit between your teeth. Make sure not to drown during this process. It takes a few tries to get right and is pretty uncomfortable, I would not recommend doing this.
There are two species of Seraph, the Greater and Lesser Seraph. The Greater Seraph is about the size of a horse, the Lesser Seraph is about the size of a raccoon. They are named after the biblical seraph because of their four wings and human face. They have an association with fire, because they gather around forest fires to catch prey fleeing the flames. It is thought they start the fires, but that isn't true. They are also called Man-faced griffins, due to a superficial resemblance to the idea of griffins (they look nothing like actual griffins)
This is a slightly outdated design because like the day after I drew this I decided seraphs should be sexually dimorphic (the females are larger and have manes, as in most birds of prey the females are bigger than males.) Tuul is based on a Pallas's sea eagle.
