Backstory, I tutor as a side job to help make a little bit of cash. The other day a parent came in and told me that her kid had a test the next day and needed help in math. I thought: No problem, we can try our best. The next day, the kid does not do well on her test at all. The mom pulls a full out Karen and calls not only my manager, but the owner as well. (Note: We do not give out the owner’s number. We have no clue how she got the number in the first place.) At first, I was pisssed because I take pride in helping my students. The best part about tutoring is when your student’s eyes light up as they understand the material. But then, I took it out with a classic meme. Enjoy!
Doing cover tuition sessions over zoom so far has been like “...they’re not gonna turn up are they? Ok. Fine. I still get paid.”
...I should stop doing full lesson planning for it but then what if they turn up? What would I do then? Fake technical difficulties until I fumble up a lesson plan?
Urghhhhh.
when someone doesnt understand that a 1-hour long tutoring lesson that was only held once is not enough time to instill a person with knowledge of the whole of german grammar and implies that you’re at fault
Oh grading, how I loathe thee.

re: I have to update and condense my notes for an A&P course in 2 weeks because I am the tutor and I have to basically use self-made cue cards to get through tutoring lessons. I got up at 6 today to get started on them and I’m still up past midnight working on this shit and it would be really nice to be able to do this in my lab hours (read: paycheck).
And I have 3 days before I’m going to get a butt load of emails of people asking me to schedule sessions with them. Not that I don’t want to help, but at the beginning of last semester, I literally got emails from 25 different students as soon as the prof put my contact information up.
like I love tutoring but I’m 0/10 confident that I’m even smart enough to do it so I have to have perfect notes or else I will (and have) completely fall apart in my tutoring sessions.
I fail to understand why the professor believes I can do this. Honestly I’m pretty sure she asked me because she knows I am the only student who needs the money enough + lacks enough self respect to put themselves through this.
The good news is that I know everything about every bone, joint, and superficial muscle in the body, and I swear to god if this knowledge doesn't become helpful in nursing school, I will lobotomize myself.
also i’m 10/10 stressed about $$$ but that’s so not news
Me: (Student) is doing state testing. I'm going to the bathroom. Me: this just made my day. I don't even care what happens for the rest of the day.
It’s so hard to browse Tumblr while simultaneously scanning stuff for my students. My scrolling keeps getting interrupted!
