It’s been a rough week, but at least state testing ended today.
One of my students stole a bunch of the snacks for the class ‘store’ on Monday when I was out with a migraine, lots of paperwork, a few kids are having behavior issues again now that I said “well kids, I’m over snacks as rewards, because yeah, no”, the IRS said, “oh, that decent refund? No, we decided you owe us that from 2022” and kept it, and I just want to write and not fall asleep super early every night.

I just read a response on an AP history exam that broke my heart. I can't talk about the details but I just want to find this kid and give them a hug (and send their teacher a copy of the note they wrote). Scoring APs is just being hit by a Niagara Falls of all the ways this society fails our children.

The number of adults that I had to explain my Weird Barbie costume today, severely disturbed me.

More students recognized me this year than other years.
I also spread glitter everywhere cause of the tulle on my costume.
Um so I wrote work time and it inexplicably autocorrected to worm time. I can’t say I have ever given my students worm time. I’m a terrible teacher 😔
And now I can add "catcalled by a student" to the list of indignities and harassment I have dealt with this school year as a trans public high school teacher.
