March 7: These double stops feel awkward and I can’t quite figure out why…. maybe if I play them higher in the bow?

February 21: (Slow-motion) I can see where I’m using inefficient motions. It’s interesting because the soon-to-be-spiccato sections are fine before this spot. So I decided to slow it down significantly. Basically I’m just not actually executing a string crossing. Now that I’m aware of it I can work on it.

February 18: More slow-motion video watching. This time for the string crossing passage on the third page. My fingers are reacting better, but they’re still locked in place a bit. (And some of the pitches are off but that’s easy enough to fix, especially if I reduce my finger pressure) In long sixteenth note runs it feels like my bow could go on forever, and I want that feeling here.

I discovered the slow-mo setting on my iPod’s camera, so I’m trying to find out exactly what’s happening with my bow hand. Also my B’s are consistently flat (except when they’re sharp). There are gaps in the edges of the sound, which I do not like. When I focused on the balance of the bow in the hand it was effective at creating the bow flexibility I need and want.
