There were a few in my year at the Protectorate, and one of them ran the convenience store near my alley before I began living with Marcy. They’re easy to read and understand. Better than Apex.”

Lumen: “Our Arrowmail’s real sweet, and real sweet on our lil’ glowbug, but I know ya can’t judge ‘em all just by the one. We’d get some rowdy sorts through my saloon once a year or so. Used to like watchin’ the joustin’ they put on with the human town. Humans called it a ‘Ren Fair,’ dunno what that means.”

Namina: “Metal men not tasssty, but nice. Floran breakss teeth on one when Floran was a sssprout. Nice Glitch took Floran to other Floranss, gets Greenfinger to give Floran home.”

Hadley: “I don’t like them much. Arrowmail’s alright, but Ma has a couple in her band. Big surly bunch. ‘Intimidating. Go play with your dolls, little princess.’ Pfeh. Go rust, you sword-toting tank. And that Baron’s got a few screws loose.”

Sonny: “They’re real fun! I can read them almost as well as I get Lumen. They’re energy, I’m energy, we speak the same lingo. They just got one heck of an accent. Ones like Arrowmail are the best sorts, all bright and dancin’ and new over the old same-old.”

Oldarva: “I don’t know much about them. We never saw them in the town. Arrowmail is the first Glitch I met. They have a fascinating language, though. An entire subset of their vocabulary is devoted to emotion, exclusively used as prefixes. And their alphabet is beautiful.”

Arjun: “They’re alright, I guess. Had one as foreman at my last job. Meteor nailed him. He was a fair sort, but don’t let him pat your back after a long day. Tended to forget us fleshy sorts don’t do well with superheated metal hands on our backs. I still have a scar from one. But they respect you well enough if you can fix them up.”
