his father's voice startles him, because his father is gone, isn't he? and so is his mother. they left him alone (no, not alone, he had mabosstiff, and that was enough- he didn't need parents!) and he clawed his way through life, working past every goddamn obstacle thrown in his way, because he was more than just the professors' son!

the tears keep falling. it's a rather human thing for him to do. maybe he's still human in some ways. he had been able to grow up and learn and change and ... it didn't mean that there wasn't something different. it didn't make him less of a futuristic homunculus. it didn't make the pain of the present moment any less, but maybe there would be less pain in the future. the anger starts to fade into a rather simplistic, primal sorrow. β what am i now? another experiment? when all i ever wanted was to be your son ... but you and mom ... you left ... β
