My thoughts on the TurboHD (a TurboExpress clone console)
I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am over the Hyperkin TurboHD. It’s a TurboExpress clone that plays Hu-Cards and it’s region-free. It also outputs HDMI if you wanted to use this with a HDTV.
TurboExpress is a really cool thing to own, but I haven’t ever pursued one. For one thing, they’re hundreds of dollars used. They also usually have bad capacitors and, even when fixed, the screen is washed out like the Game Gear. This thing with have a 4-inch screen and I’m sure it’ll look very sharp. Really my only fear here is that they don’t do the controls right, but they probably will if they’re going to all this trouble. And this thing will get 10 hours of battery. That’s incredible.
This also raises my hope that we’ll get a replacement for the Game Gear as well - which would allow us to play original carts for that system. Though I do own a LCD-modded Game Gear, I’d love to own something with a smaller form-factor. These are the kinds of products I’m totally behind and will probably buy no matter what the price.
