#day15 of #100daysofpractice: last rehearsal of #harthouseorchestra before the show on Thursday. Come to U of T! Donations only, it'll be great. 💚✨🎶🎻🎶🎻🎶✨💚 I wish I had more time to rehearse. Today was tough to get going, but at the end of it there's a reason I'm there, and everybody else there too. It's why we'll shlep out to halls in the suburbs, near-empty rooms, through all kinds of weather and personal conditions. It's love. Music will break your heart as often as it will soothe it. It's experience translated into universal form. It's a form of empathy, in that you have to truly, deeply put yourself in the emotional state of a work to fully express it. I find the more often I play to this level, the quieter I get. Maybe because I feel I'm speaking enough. Music has been a constant companion to me since I was born, and has remained with me through continents, ups and downs, longer than any relationship that wasn't blood. I'm declaring this today because I have a resentment towards being prompted to express love at an appropriate moment. So I chose a day before.
