I did, but I got it last summer. And if I've been getting raises, no one has been telling me. I only got a review after my first 6 months. I doubt any raise they give me would be substantial enough.

You brought up some good points with your post. I think my position and your friend's position are very different (but still similar), but reading your post definitely helped me rationalized things. Hearing that your friend found a better job made me feel better, I was overly paranoid about not being able to find a place as nice xD Â I think you're definitely right about a place not paying me as much as I deserve if they can get away with it. Our store actually has a hard time filling positions (we require a lot more work than what most people expect) and keeping good cashiers have been difficult. It seems like the really good employees kind of come and go and I've been the only consistent one. I suppose it is my fault for not pursuing what I think I deserve, but I honestly don't think they could pay me what I deserve at a cashier's level. Particularly now more than ever because even though the company is doing great, shareholders are making the company cut back so they can save more money. No more music in the stores, new support managers wont be full time, and I heard they're doing away with new lead positions (which is what I am).Â

Student loans are certainly an option, but my parents want that as a last ditch effort- I think they'd rather break in to savings than to get in to loans. I don't think I'd have as much of an issue with it because I know my major is in really high demand, but given the struggles our generation faces, that doesn't always mean I'd get a solid job in that field. I'm sure they would understand, I think it's ME who's having the most trouble with it, haha. It's not like they could force me to stay or anything, I'd just be wrestling with guilt.Â
