Another li in the journey
I got my dates to go to Korea to train with Grandmaster. It’s been a few years, at this point, since I’ve trained with him so this is super exciting. I’ll be spending the next few months getting in better shape so I’ll be as ready as possible to spend the two weeks fully taking advantage of the opportunity.
With that in mind I’ve started running again - but slowly. At nearly 42 I’ve realized I don’t need to jump straight back into doing sub seven minute miles my first day out. I’m starting with walk/run intervals and will work my way up to run/sprint intervals.
I’m also starting my Gong (practice) - It won’t be quite 100 days before I get to Korea, but 86 or so is ok. I’ll be doing Do-in Che Jo (Master’s Morning Stretch), my warm up (Bear Walk, Frog Walk, Monkey Walk *thanks GMB*, as well as Crow and Handstand work for a minute each), then pushups and upper level forms work, and my stretching practice.
I expect all of that combined with my regular practice will get me in a better/good place to be ready for what comes my way.
I’m trying to manage my expectations - but what I know so far is he has three top level masters in other styles that I’ll be working with him, and that his friend who is the head of a Buddhist temple has agreed to allow me to stay there for 3-4 days to study and train. Most importantly, of course, is that I’ll be training with Grandmaster. *That* is exciting.
