I had a great time meeting with my fellow community collaborators at our @tuesdaystogethertrivalley meeting last night. Oddly enough... even though this is a group of creative entrepreneurs who are movers and shakers, the big message I walked away with for me was “remember to slow down” - it may have been different for everyone because we were discussing our personal goals and reflecting on different things: growth, healing, health, success, quality of life, learning, etc. Sometimes as a small business owner, you forget about the reason WHY you started in the first place because you wear so many hats in your business unlike big successful brands who spend thousands of dollars every year just to solidify their foundations and vision cast for their futures. Hey it’s Monday and I’m still alive! Just hit snooze on my alarm like five times and realized this day is going to get away from me if I don’t just push myself to get out of bed... ohh the struggles of running your own business - there is no accountability... in both respects: 1. Following up in the business 2. Making sure you set aside time for yourself I’ve been thinking about work/ life balance a lot lately and wondering if I really have that balance or if I’m still always giving work more time than I should. I open my @honeybook tab some times into the evening and I’m so happy it always greets me with “Burning the midnight oil?” .... something along the line of “we get it - we’re right there with you but get some sleep girl!!” ( I don’t think it really says that, but I’m sure it means it ) — that’s why I did decide to go ahead and move forward with only taking on 20 weddings next year because you know I was teetering between 20-25. I think it super important to be able to focus on the clients you already have and making sure they are well taken care of BUT I’ve also come aware that I have to also make sure I have time for me, the husband, and the little loves (the dogs). Do you miss my face? I miss yours too! Just know, if you are sitting there thinking you need some more Joie in your life, I am here... I know that I keep pretty busy and I know running a business is no joke but I will say that I have my calendar pretty organized that if you and I just happen to both have some time at 9am for coffee on a Wednesday or 6pm on a Thursday for dinner, lets pencil it in and make it happen! I think more than ever as an adult that making that human connection is so important, especially in this digital age. I’m one to admit that it is easier to sit behind a social post because you don’t have to get dolled up to post or you can say things you don’t really mean but I promise you - one phone call/ FaceTime/ or coffee date and your lingering questions will be answered. Day 3: Making an intentional year list is something that I've always wanted to do but never really sat down to do it so I'm glad that it is a part of this week's Insta Challenge! 👍🏻👍🏻 We all know the little ins and out of ourselves and what's holding us back and it's not to say that I'm going to be perfect after I create this list but it a super fun activity and I encourage others to do it if you haven't done so. You can swipe right to see some of the things on my list to 1) keep me accountable and 2) just see what's going on in my mind! ➡️➡️➡️ I won't go into too much details on what I'm trying to say but a couple things that I wanted to highlight are: I'm happy to say that I haven't really worked with any difficult customers in the past couple years but I will say that I am still encountering some inquiries from some and so that was first on my list of things I'm just going to say no to - there's no need for me to try and foster a relationship with someone who doesn't already appreciate my craft and the time and energy I'm putting into it. Real talk. Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated! 🤫 Had a great discussion about goal setting with the @tuesdaystogethertrivalley crew tonight and as usual, always great... one take away from tonight is: let it go (Yup!! Just like Elsa said!) 😶 Don’t let difficult moments or small failures linger into the new year! Day 2 | My Mission Statement: Simple Joie offers a unique wedding photography experience for amazing couples by helping them create and capture their authentic love story; dedicated to the highest quality of photography delivered with pride, sincerity and originality. 🥵 That’s a mouth full... but it’s true! I’m not your average wedding photographer! I come from a long line of hard working parents and siblings and I value every hand that has pushed or lifted me to where I am today and I know I bring that same mentality to my craft. Not every single couple that knocks on my door may have the same core values as I do but I know they all appreciate my willingness to share my insight on engagment photo ideas, wedding planning, posing together, day of timeline ideas, and most importantly: doing what I can to help them accomplish their dream wedding. 😬 Yes they are cover my time to come out to share my photography skills and post processing time along with whatever print/albums may come with a package... I don’t get paid to do this BUT when I end up being the only vendor that will be there with my couple through out their entire day - I can’t help but point out how to better their experience when/if needed OR lend a hand to fix a problem they’re having that occurred that day (let’s just say that I’m not going to stand around if no one knows how to sew a button or a broken strap back into place - it happens). 👍🏻 We all have messy lives and obstacles we have to overcome every other day so after months of planning - your wedding day should be: if not perfect... pretty darn close!!
